Thanks for putting this together. A great resource. Would it be possible to add the various jury awards for the 2 or 3 fine art challenges we've had, or at least a link to those award threads? There are some pretty fine images among them that are worth revisiting once in a while.

Probably! If you can provide a list of ribbon IDs I should be able to do something. Is it normally just one person that does th awarding? Do you have that info? Would be fabulous to get them in there!

Thanks for considering this. Panels do the judging, but the award information for each panel is posted by one person. I'll get you the information, ribbon IDs, award icons etc.

I have spent hours browsing through these photos. I keep wishing a curator of contemporary
photography could have at them. There is some extraordinary work here. It is really a very special
collection and that it is global enhances it more. Again, thanks so much Niall.

That’s so cool! As long as I’ve been here, I knew not of such “Bling Awards”. But what a great job you did in organizing this. I just spent a very long time looking at everyone’s awards!

thanks for all of the kind words :)

can y'all help me fill in some missing info? some awards that are given by several people and are missing from my database since i don't have that info. for example, i assumed it was given only by bvy, but there are more! does anybody know who else can give this award out?

also, are there other awards (either currently in the catalogue, or otherwise) that have multiple awarders?

sorry I can't help with awards given by multiple awarders, but I found awards that don't show up on your site:

I "earned" a yellow and a blue babyface award from tate
I just looked at his portfolio- apparently there a a few more awards he granted, just take look:

Hmm. I used to update my profile page, it's been years since I've added any 'bling' but I did have 5 'undie' awards listed. On your updated website I'm only showing 1. ???

I think there may be a couple of 'bling' types not represented also. For example, this one ==> . vlado used to post these as a piggyback to the Posthumous Ribbon thread.

Posthumous Art (juried) Ribbons:




Don has a few unique 'bling' awards on his profile page, and I have a couple as well, that aren't represented in the collection of awarders on the updated website.

Not sure if this is helpful info or not. Apologies if it comes across as finding issues, etc. Not meant that way.

ETA - more findings. Strange, the chromeydome and vlado 'Awarders' are on your list, but the ones I've rec'd from them aren't listed. ???

NiallO - can you tell us more about the Asigmatic bling? I've not seen this bling attached to any image. One of the more recent ones is this one ==>

What's the premise behind it?

glad2badad - some details here. Basically I calculate the awardee of it in software.

That's right! I cheated a little bit and my code does a soft 'backfill' - since the award is 'deterministic' and based on vote variance, I just calculate that in software and push the awarded images online. Only about 200 have been awarded by me physically, but the website has the catalogue covering all challenges. I might look into doing a 'hard' backfill sometime - it would be nice for pepole to know that they have won!

Basically, the awarder needs to add the award as a comment for me to pick it up. I don't scrape the posthumous thread. So some examples where the MUAIMHO are given here, but not in comments are not captured by me. Same with jury'd ones. a specific user needs to leave a comment on an image with a specific image. It won't get it all, but it gets 90% there I reckon.
