I’m fairly certain that I suggested two of the current challenge topics.

“Clean and/or dirty” and... “centered and ugly”.

I can’t remember why for either of them.

Darnsies. .

I’m searching my brain...

Maybe one of my children came by and I thought about clean... or dirty (most likely). Ha!!

Or... one of my children came by and I thought about centered and ugly.

Ha!! Hubby’s fault about the ugly. Not mine! (I’m adorable in a mustache).

I’m just kidding about most of that. Not the mustache part though. :)

Hubby is the reason our four are pleasant to look at.

But... golly!! WHAT was I thinking suggesting those??

I do miss my brain.

We used to get along so well...

Let’s make “Well, Dang!” a challenge topic. Ha!

Any ruleset except Minimal is fine with me.

I personally think you should be banned from suggesting any more challenge topics, at least for the rest of the year ;)

For what it's worth, I like centered and ugly. Shot for it yesterday . . . and again today. Of course I was shooting for something else both times, but there's no law against shoehorns, is there?

Somewhere there's a law ENCOURAGING them, and I follow it whenever I can :-)

What is this favouritism, or something, three in a row :(

We just finished one you suggested, Anita. Landscape with people.

I didn't really suggest this one anyway... it's just funny.

I say we interpret it as we want :) A friend already messaged me, asking what I thought. She said she has her view, but is curious as to whether mine is the same, because she is thinking two things.... one is something you cannot believe what you are seeing, the other is as basically another word for Drat or Darn... ie a scratch ticket that did not win.

I say either is FINE and there may be more :)

I think my previous entry in this vein may be an example of both of these meanings ...

rather than sending you a pm Lydia .. can you explain what you interpret 'well dang' to mean ..
i've googled it and come up with nothing helpful .. and read here as well .. i'm still a bit in the dark .. well dang .. !! ..
i think frustration was one meaning .. i could be wrong .. ;)

You've got it right -- I think of it as something frustrating/wrong but with an element of humor also (see the previous entry I linked) -- not quite bad enough for "dammit" ...

I also see it as something bizarre or surprising

The friend Nikki mentioned PM'd me wanting clarification if Nikki's supposition was correct.

Here is my reply:

Nikki said "one is something you cannot believe what you are seeing, the other is as basically another word for Drat or Darn... ie a scratch ticket that did not win.

I say either is FINE and there may be more :)
"

Living in the South most people know what this means and it's hard for others to understand, I think. Most of it would be the verbal inflection to give the meaning.

Nikki is correct that both could be true...

However, personally I think that if it were a good kind of dang... they wouldn't have "well" in front of it. "Well, dang" is a bad thing.

"Whoa, dang" would be a good thing. Ha!

I told you it's complicated. LOL!

In any case, it really doesn't matter what the actual usage is. Most will think it goes both ways.

And it does... to people outside of the South, I think. :D

So, if I were you and wanted to be safe, I'd make it a bad thing. But, if you have the perfect good thing in mind, it would be worth the risk.

I know that doesn't help, but there it is. Ha!

I guess the easiest way to think about any and all ways it could mean is to use it like "Well, Damn!"

Same thing. Means the same thing. Just "dang" instead.

It's a Southern polite thang, I reckon. :D

I mended it. Used Expert editing rules ... a bit sloppy, but semi-functional. LOL
