Surprised no banter? We do have some Sony shooters on here, yes? :-)

Perhaps they're still paying off their current model?

I can see no place for it in my gear, 28-60 lens? What for? I prefer 24-105 f4. Saving some weight on the body does not make much difference when you have bigger lenses. I also can't travel at the moment but even if I did, I would use my RX100 VI, it takes very good photos for its weight and it fits into the small belt pocket on my backpack, very convenient for fast access.

And I am finally out of GAS! (which makes my husband very happy ;) Although I reserve the right to upgrade my A7 III and the RX100 VI when the worthwhile new versions come out :)

Well, you don't have to buy the lens. LOL I like the body size of the 6000 so it has some appeal for me. But, I'm sure I won't buy it. I'm too cheap and usually wait until tech is a few years old and the price has come down some. :-)

At first this was rumoured as a 1000$ camera and I was very excited to use it a B camera. At more than 2K it's not a bargain anymore. The only interesting feature (for me) is the real time eye focus in video, but I'm going to pay only for that

It’s £1,900 in UK = US $2,500. (Approx)
And over €2,000

Ah, yes. The conversion rate. I noted the $ symbol in the post by Alex and thought he meant $2000 US. Sorry.

Well. Hmm. Guess it wasn't such an exciting release for Sony, at least in this community. :-} I think the small form factor, with full frame, is interesting. I do like the size of the A6000 series for a quick grab when out and about or as a 2nd camera body in the bag. Usually I'll have the A6000 setup with a 35/1.4. It takes up about as much room as another lens would in the bag. It would be cool to have a better performing 2nd body to do that with (i.e. a7C).

Anyway. I thought it would be a fun conversation. Maybe next time. :-)

It got quite a poor review by Amateur Photographer magazine in the UK. For that kind of ££ I’d want it to get a glowing report. I’d be very interested in lighter weight for travel (if I ever get to go anywhere again! Back in lockdown where I live from Tuesday 22nd), but it’s not wowing me enough to consider it right now.

It's surely an interesting conversation! I'm just disappointed with price. The camera in itselg is a very good one. All my gear is full frame and it would be quite useful when travelling and not so much space for the camera.

I looked at the Spec and for some reason it doesn't give me an edge to say go and look for it, if I would buy the I will look for A7R4 or A7S iii series and I understand that is three times the price but then I will save for that :D

looks like a fun powerful camera. Price is steep however.

What is a fair price for a "Full Frame" mirrorless camera with the features this one brings to the table? Body only is $1798.

Ok. No response so I looked it up. Here's the current FF models on the market (minus the Leica which are in another $$$$ league).

I'm not sure I'd buy it as to get the benefit of the small size, you probably need to have small lenses. I've spent a lot of $$ changing over to Sony, but some of the lenses are not that lightweight, so the benefit of having a smaller body is lost. My 2 cents for what it's worth.

I think Sarah hit the nail on the head... the A7c pricing seems attractive for the features offered, but the utility of such a small body is lost if it's not used with compact lenses. In fact, a somewhat larger body is desirable (more balanced) if using larger/heavier lenses.
FWIW, I think it is a cool little package, and will find a market.

I think it’s probably very appealing for people who want to move to full frame

Hmm. Well, in regard to the size of the a7C and lens size ... the Sony A6X00 (APS-C) series has been very popular. The a7C is slightly beefier than the A6X00's. Many of the lens available for the smaller series are quite large as well. I have the A6000 and usually pair it with a smaller 35/1.4, but I have put something as large as the 70-400 on it. LOL Just hold it by the lens.

I don't know. I guess the versatility of having the smaller body FF as an option is appealing. Go small or large on the lens depending on the occasion?
