So I haven't used polarizers in many years, because I was tired of the fact that they cut down the light when I was trying to shoot fast moving animals. But now that my camera is much better with noise, I want to give it another shot.

They range from $20-$300.

Usually you get what you pay for. But some reviews say that there's not much of a difference and you're dumb to buy expensive.

I'm curious your results. I know that lower quality gives a tint, but that can be fixed in post. I'm more curious as to whether they degrade the photo quality, sharpness, etc. Are they good at 24mm all the way out to 600mm? etc.

Any help would be appreciated, including brands you like or one from which to stay away. (It would be so much easier ending sentences with prepositions!)

Go ahead -- it's a myth that it's "against the rules" ...

B+W are what I like best. If you want to use one on wide angle, you need a thin mount. Their xtra slim line is on sale now at Amazon at a steep discount.

I also like the B+W. Do make sure you get a multi-coated filter. By design, the C-Pol filters are made of two glass layers with an air gap, so there are multiple reflective surfaces. You really want multi-coated to cut down reflection.

That's the sort of arrant nonsense up with which we should not put! (With a nod to Winston Churchill)

A snobbish English teacher was sitting in an Atlanta airport coffee shop waiting for her flight back to Connecticut, when a friendly Southern Belle sat down next to her.

"Where y'all goin' to?" asked the Southern Belle.

Turning her nose in the air, the snob replied "I don't answer people who end their sentences with prepositions."

The Southern Belle thought a moment, and tried again.

"Where y'all goin' to, BITCH?"

ROFL!

While you're considering polarizers, note that if you stack two of them you can use the combination as a variable neutral-density filter -- probably degrades the image quality from what you're used to but "better than nothing" IMO ... Examples here ...
