the conversation about StreetPigeon in the other thread got me wondering how others did in their honorary challenges. So, I looked them up. :D

Melethia came in 4th in the challenge "in the style of" her.

Odriew came in 20th in his "in the style of"

Nixter... 5th place in his...

Librodo... 39th

BSpurgeon... 8th

Art Roflmao... 7th

Cutout... 12th

heida... 1st! 10th

Sherpet and docpjv didn't enter theirs

Bear_Music... 6th

Yo_Spiff... 19th

Jagar... 6th

Oops! I'm wrong. (weird, I know. :D )

Janja said this and is correct:

In the style of Heida was won by Heidahb and Heida was 10th in her own honorary challenge

I'm pretty sure Ansel Adams didn't "win" his either (when a real Adams was sneaked into the challenge) ...

Poor Ansel only finished 11th, and then got DQ'd

The honorary person cannot have but his/her own view while the others can absorb the influence and run with it and further develop it in their own understanding and personal way.

I don't disagree with that. BUT, IMHO... the challenges are meant to make us think that the honorary person actually took the photo. So, we're not supposed to "add" anything of our own.

In any case, I wasn't trying to start discussion on it (but of course discussion is welcome!). I was just curious about how others have fared trying to look like they shot in their own style. ha!

I thought others might be interested, too. So, here it is! :D

Absorbing the influence is most of the fun:). And why I enjoy voting and commenting... seeing how others met the challenge, in this case an honorary member.

It is interesting, Lydia. I think when honorees don't finish high in their own "Style of" challenge, it more a reflection on the voters. I would like to see how often the top average vote finishers matched the how the honoree's high votes.

I'll go edit it. Thanks!

I should point out that in my challenge, which was Styl uv Grog, Bear_Music quickly and accurately identified the real grog entry based on recognizing my skewed sense of humor.

He also seems to have lived in most of the places I visit...

I think Grog needs to get his promotional program in order! It's been almost 6 years since that challenge was run. So, Grog, quit chasing gurls and fude for a few minutes and get a 'Grog Lifestyle' campaign going. Time to do this challenge again. :-D

I got 36th in the posthumous ribbon challenge but I did get 2 or 3 couldashouldawoulda ribbons so it was worth it.

Dang it!

I knew I'd missed some...

SO sorry!

I just went with the "In the S... of".

I think there may be some others too -- when I looked earlier (before your first post) I just searched for "style" ... our challenge-naming has not been all that consistent ...

I also found some under "In the Spirit of..."

well mine is only tangentially related. it's more like "can the critic walk the walk?" and he could only walk to 36th place.

Hahaha!

Great sense of humor.

I did beat you by a little. :D

Who wins these sort of challenges is still more about popular appeal than actually nailing someone else's style. IMO, of course. Grog only pulled 19th in his challenge.
