Hey all, the new NIK collection was just released and I downloaded it....now wtf are the presets that were under the Colour menu, stuff like Glamour Glow and Detail Extractor? Yes there is a bunch of new stuff in the other filter folders but have yet to find where those ones are lurking.

"Recipes" are under "Filter Library" in the left panel. If you don't see what you are expecting to, click the left arrow in the panel and you will find them all safe and sound. It's a better organizing principle :-)

Hmmm. It's not free anymore I guess? I've been using it for years. Not sure what version I have (without looking).

@ glad2badad....yeah once upon a time you had to buy it. They about a year later it was FREE. Now it's being offered at 30% off for $100 USD.

@ Bear_Music...I sure hope so!!!! Thanks Bear!

Now...some presets which I created seem to have been overwritten by the new NIK. Fortunately I only downloaded the new NIK onto my new macMini and not the old one. I THINK I still have some presets that I made esp in b/w on the old mac. Now how to import them to the new Mac without NIK devouring them?

And if anyone has figured out a way to keep PS CS5 from constantly crashing on OSX Mojave 10.14.6, please let me know!!!

Google bought NIK in the first place to acquire Snapseed technology for phone cameras. They ever had any interest in the NIK Effects. DxO bought the rights from Google, primarily so they could use the patented, U-point technology for within-app editing on their flagship Image Editor, Dx0 PhotoLab.

The collection was originally priced at $500, but after Google acquired Nik, the price was dropped to $150. On March 24, 2016, Google announced that they would make the Nik Collection free. Around May 30, 2017, Google announced that they have no plans to update the Nik Collection or add new features over time. On October 25, 2017, DxO announced the acquisition of the Nik Collection assets from Google.

Is there a link for that?

I can't find it.

I'd downloaded it for free on my old computer, then downloaded the free trial (in a hurry to edit for a challenge) on the new computer.

Now, I can't figure out how to get the old files into PS on the new computer since it already thinks I have it (but the free trial expired).

Silly me!

I was searching for NIK and only got to their site, of course.

Then, I searched for Free NIK and got this:

Free NIK download

That is about version 2.5.0. Would be surprised if that one is for free. If so, it’s great, if not, have a look at this video:

Thanks!

Unfortunately the things they mention in the video are no longer on the site to click.

Unless I'm missing something...

It's still there. try this link: https://nikcollection.dxo.com/nik-collection-2012/

You still have to give your emailaddress and then they send you the link.

Do you happen to know what's the oldest version of Photoshop those will work with?

I am using it from Lightroom 3.6. Next to that I am using Photoshop CS3 but they don't seem to connect to that version.

It works in Lightroom Classic 9.2 under Windows 10

I downloaded the new version as a trial. for my workflow it makes no sense to upgrade as the tools I routinely use, Color Efex & Silver Efex are the same as the last version. If you use LR or selective editing, then maybe it's worth it. There's a new app, Perspective Efex, but with the good perspective corrections in LR and PS, can't see the benefit. This is the 3 upgrade (paid for) to the Nik Collection since DXO bought it.

I'm still using the old/free version. Still strong with PS CC and Lightroom Classic CC. No issues.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear about whether to upgrade to 3.x or not, Thank you :)

Still using the free version with Corel PSP. Would need a pretty strong reason to upgrade to the new paid version.

Had anyone tried version 4? Does it offer anything worth spending money on or should I go on using the free version?
