i've been really wanting to comment a lot in the challenges .. and vote ..
especially as i've been more active lately ..
but since the corona virus my internet has been very slow ..
it can literally take between 5 and 15 seconds for a photo to load .. depending on its size ..
i've been on to my service provider numerous times as i thought it was a fault on the line .. i'm adsl .. either something their end or mine .. but the last person i spoke to said it was because there is so much more traffic on the internet with so many ppl working from home etc ..

but i'm sorry .. its so difficult going thru the challenges during voting just now ..
if i can do some commenting and voting i will though ..

i'm not even sure that time of day makes much difference either ..
feedback about this would be welcome .. especially if other ppl are having similar problems .. xx

We are spoiled here, our Internet provider doubled the speed of Internet for the duration of the lockdown free of charge. If your provider is Telstra I doubt they would do that (I used to work for them, corporate greed is to blame).

PS I just did a speed test with speedtest.net and got: Ping 12ms, Download 301.47 Mbps, Upload 110.58 Mbps. We are on Download 50 Mbps plan so the speed is actually 6 times faster.

Roz, there is no need to apologize
You're always so generous with comments and I think we all appreciate your efforts - especially with a slow internet connection

Internet speed is no problem where I live and still I didn't comment as much as I planned at the beginning of the exit restrictions...

You could try getting up in the middle of the night when all those other people using the internet are asleep and see if it is still slow. That sounds incredibly slow! I am on a old skool ADSL line and mine is slow compared to my previous connection in my old house but photos load instantly for me. If yours is slow in the middle of the night then you certainly need to kick up a fuss with your provider.

thankyou Barbara and Margaret ..
I think I should move to Germany or Switzerland .. !!! ..
I felt quite deprived reading your speedtest results Margaret ..
I just did one and got
ping .. 26ms ..
download .. 3.59mbps
upload .. .85mbps

a week or so ago the result was .09mbps download .. !! ..
and yes I'm with Telstra ..
it's pretty annoying right now as I can't stream stuff and my Netflix won't work ..

I've been kicking up a fuss for a month ..!!..
and been told there's no problem ..
until last week the Telstra guy said it was because of too much traffic on the internet ..
but hearing Margaret say they actually increased their speed I wonder why they won't do that here ..
but I'll see if things are faster in the middle of the night .. and if they're not then I will definitely get back to them and complain .. for the hundredth time ..!!..

thankyou Nick ..
so i googled kiwi cockie on the off chance .. as you do .. and it came up with kiwi cookie ..
this is what i found out .. "Kiwi Cookie is an Epic Cookie released on November 30, 2016, alongside his Pet, Kiwi Bird. He has the ability to hop on his bike to travel forward at high speeds."
interesting that speed is a major factor ..
but i was obviously on the wrong track ..
i'd be grateful if you could give me the contact details of the kiwi cockie .. desperate times call for desperate measures .. or even disparate measures .. ;)

Roz, There is no way you need to apologise, you’ve always been an excellent member of DP challenge and probably comment on more images than most. You’re very positive, chirpy, friendly, and of course an excellent photographer :-)

How's this for speed?! Live out in the country with DSL for internet. Remember when I used to complain about the increase to 1200 pixel entries? :-)

Broadband internet is the most widely used form of Internet connection because of its efficiency and high speed.
DSL is the generic term for Digital Subscriber Line Services while ADSL is just one of its types. DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) denotes an internet that uses digital connections between a modem and a phone line. ADSL means Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line where the speed of data sent is known as upstream and data received is known as downstream. Both are internet high-speed connections that can work on your existing telephone line. There is no need to upgrade your telephone connection for using both these types of services. Apart from this, both DSL and ADSL do not interfere with your telephone service and can be used simultaneously without any issues.

Barry .. you're DSL and i'm ADSL .. i wanted to know the difference so i googled it ..
i'm still no wiser ..
but i found this comment misleading ... Broadband internet is the most widely used form of Internet connection because of its efficiency and high speed. .. but i suppose everything is relative ..

my usual right now is around 6 or 7mbps .. and its crap .. excuse the french .. or is that australian .. !! ..
sorry .. my daughter says my jokes arent funny .. she's probably right .. ;)
