To be honest I am getting very tired of confinement based challenges. I find it very depressing. Could we have challenges with a focus on the techniques which would allow free choice of subjects? Maybe it will lead to more cheerful, happy photography? We need it badly!
Thanks in advance for consideration.

just wanted to start a thread on the forum about this. Not everyone is locked down at home.
Here in Taiwan we still can go wherever we want. And another thing is that I lost all my original pictures of the last 5 years.(including my 5 times Japan) I have recovered many pictures but I cannot enter them in archival challenges (no exif)
I accidentally deleted them from my Backup HD when transferring them to my new HD. That HD is 3TB large and only 1 partition, and doing a deep scan recovery will take a crazy amount of time. I went to a recovery shop here in Taipei and I will cost me a whooping 3000US$ to get those 200,000 raw/jpeg pictures back (not guaranteed they can get it back as original files, no exifs, too)

I prefer the subject oriented challenges, they provide constraints.
Technique under the minimal rule set, now I'm game. One really needs to nail that technique stand out, or at least above the other entrants.

I'm allowed out and about but I'm doing it as little as possible to reduce risk to my family

I'd be happy with technique challenges, think it would be more of a learning experience. Some challenges like current abstract probably don't need to be archival because most of us can shoot a new abstract even if stuck at home.

I kind of like having both. I find technique challenges are often easier to find a subject but harder to perform well in.

Technique challenges are often a free study in disguise.

I like to see super macro how some camera have that or make a illusion it super macro. My idol is Georgia Okeefe I would like to be like her only with photography.
