I'm interested in hearing what some of you people do for a living.

I am a web designer and PBA bowler (although I make a LOT less bowling, hehe). What do you do?

Well, I'm financially supported by my partner (although not for much longer, since we're splitting up :/) while I study 3D animation in a course for game development, do freelance 3D modeling/animation and make jewelry in collaboration with Annida. I still don't have a website up for the jewelry (that will be done VERY soon though), but everything else I do is on my site - lisa3d.org.

I'm a commercial banker. I lend money and break their knee caps if they don't pay me back ... a little bit like the Sopranoes.

I deal with larger commercial accounts that need lending, investment, and cash management advice. I have offices in two towns and a home office. The best part of my job ... I'm pretty free to do what I want, as long as I make the big bucks for the bank. The worst part ... I'm based in a smaller town; lack of resources and photography buddies. I'll make my way back to my home city of Moncton, NB eventually.

I'm on the road alot (mostly day trips), so I should bring my camera everywhere I go. I probably will when the weather goes over the freezing mark.

I am a self-employed technical writer who specializes in writing hardware and software manuals. Please see my entry for the "Your Occupation" challenge for a test I had to write for my first technical writing job interview in 1991.

Since I am a "literal" person, I am exploring photography as a way to develop creativity and expression. I am also enrolled in a web design certificate program to help me acquire more "online information development" skills. I'm learning there that creativity is equally important as presenting information well.

My husband and I work on a contract basis through our own ltd company. He's a geek, ahem, did I say geek? I meant software programmer. I am an IT Trainer.

I went self employed just under a year ago, having worked as an IT Trainer in a variety of companies on a permanent basis for several years.

I now have 3 main clients and am building up more. I do all sorts of training on the normal products like MS Office, Access, Project, Outlook plus some others such as Cognos, Compel, QuarkXPress etc. My speciality is bespoke projects like the one I am working on now where clients are rolling out some bespoke program and I go in and design the course and rollout strategy as well as delivering it. Projects and customised training are most interesting for me.

Pete and I have also done a couple of websites but haven't had time to develop more business in that area really. Maybe later...

Being self employed is kind of weird - the sales meetings are kind of like having little job interviews but so much more frequent - but the freedom and control are great. Not getting paid for sick and holiday are not so good but you can't have everything!!!

So. Anyone need some IT Training?

:)

I am currently a Broadcast Journalist/Radio DJ for the United States Army and American Forces Network Livorno here in Italy. Check out our new site and I mean new at //www.afneurope.net/livorno/
In May, fingers crossed I will end my time in the military but with things happening in places all over the world I might get involuntarily extended. I'm awaiting word to see if I have been accepted into a Photography and Film program at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. I will attend classes there in the fall if I'm accepted.

Believe it or not, I am supporting my family by being an eBay Powerseller. (Anyone want to sell some camera equipment??) My wife and I have been doing that for about 6 months now and it just keeps growing.

On the side I also sell photography packages of Black and White Candid shots of pre-school children for a local photographer to day cares and pre-schools. I get to take some of the shots as well which is a real hoot with that age.

I used to play all of the corporate rig-a-ma-roll as a branch manager for an IT staffing company. I've been out of that rat race for over a year now. I love working from home and being with my lovely family.

Right now I'm a College student. My wife is making enough for me to finish school, I worked and put her through school and now I'm trying to get done. I help her out on the side so she doesn't have to hire and pay for extra help. I'm going to major in Marketting and am thinking about getting a double major in photography as well.
