In standard editing (expert even) can your canvas be larger than your image? I guess this is a border type question. I've just reshot an image (standard editing) where I preferred a bigger 'border' around my subject and spent a fair amount of time getting it right in camera. I now find myself in a similar situation with no way of reshooting (without more expense).
In the olden days you could make a black border around your image however, if I remember rightly you needed a different colour inner border to seperate the two? Hope that makes sense but feel I already know the answer. |

You can put a border around your image as long as it's obviously a border. If you wanted, say, a black border around a black image you'd want to put a thin keyline between the two in a contrasting color.
