Just about everything they have is big bux off, but two deals really worth mentioning are their two entry level deals.

For the complete beginner: D3500 Two Lens Kit

Now I don't care what level you're at, this is a decent DSLR. Period. 24MP, Bluetooth, 1080 Video......All the good stuff. They pair it with two kit lenses: 18-55VR & 70-300, and they throw in a bag. For $400!

The other is entry level FX: D610 Kit

You are pretty unlikely to find a much cheapertime/way to get into full frame Nikon. The D610 body, a battery grip, and a 50mm f1.8. $900

I'm sure the time is seriously limited, but FYI.....Good stuff.

It's good to sell inventory before you go bankrupt.

Sad but true :/

But still interesting for people new to DSLR world.

For me just a blast from the past.

Wow......that sucks!

Looked around and it seems like Canon's gonna tank, too.

That's incomprehensible to me.

For me it's the perfect consequence of failing to innovate. I would never go back to DSLR. I would stay with the mirrorless system even if I switch from Sony. Panasonic now, for instance, has a much better new system than Nikon and Canon.

Years ago I travelled to Iceland and only brought my Olympus cameras. After returning sold off all my Nikon gear. Olympus is now thinking about selling off its camera division.

I don't plan on changing systems any time soon, but I'd look at Panasonic as well.

Just a little business reality check here... while the articles Barry linked do paint a dismal picture of the camera marketplace (not just in DSLRs but in general right now), keep in mind that *all* markets go through cycles like this. Right now the "smart phone camera revolution" is taking its toll, but as we all know, there is a physical limit to what you can achieve with a tiny sensor. Folks will inevitably reawaken to the desire for better image quality once again.

Canon is in a good place, IMO. They have other non-imaging markets to help them weather the storm; their sales declines have been real, but the declines are far less than the market in general, which is about the most positive thing you can say. They have had an RF-mount introduction that has not entirely met expectations, and I think that is due to them emphasizing higher-end lenses, but not delivering on higher-end bodies.

Nikon is definitely in a tougher spot, since imaging is what they DO. Still, they are in markets like semiconductor imaging and microscopes, so they too have other businesses to fall back on. The Nikon Z introduction has also been less than completely successful. In contrast to Canon, they seem to have delivered higher-performing cameras, but not delivered on higher-performing glass. The Z system was a must-do for Nikon, as the old F-mount had reached its limit. They were smart to conceive a completely new mount for their transition to mirrorless, and I believe they will be successful with it.

In the end, this too shall pass. I'm certainly looking forward to 2020, I think that Canon will have some attractive RF-mount camera offerings coming to market.

Not sure I follow you there. There will always be DSLR people and as I understand it, mirrorless isn't capable of some things you can do with a DSLR. Good for you that you've found that mirrorless works better for you, but I don't see DSLR's going away entirely.

Yeah, I'm old school, a dinosaur, whatever, but I'll never replace mine. For one thing, I just don't like little cameras with the size of my hands.

They make binoculars, rangefinders, and rifle scopes as well. Had a Nikon scope on mine and loved it.

For the time being it is true that mirrorless is, in some respects, not *quite* there. That is changing very rapidly, however. Just a few years ago, AF on mirrorless was a far cry from what could be achieved on even mid-level DSLR bodies. Today, mirrorless AF is as good or better than all except the very highest end DSLR AF systems, and even then it is a close race. The real challenge left for mirrorless is battery life. It's abysmal compared with DSLR battery life, due to always having to power the sensor and displays.
It truly will not be too long before Nikon and Canon abandon most if not all DSLR development, and that will be the final death knell for the ol' mirror-slappers. You can still buy a film camera today, but the only folks that would do so have unique reasons for doing that. The same will be true for DSLRs before very long. I give it 5 years, perhaps a bit less.
For myself, the 5D Mk IV is almost certainly my last DSLR. It will be in my bag for some years to come, very likely, but it will likely be supplanted as my primary camera by something mirrorless in the next 12 to 24 months.

There's nothing you can do with a DLSR but you can't do with a mirrorless, but it's quite true the opposite - starting from the AF at border of the frame, real preview of the shot, better burst, stabilized sensor and better video features. But the list is very very long. No doubt DSLR will exist but in no more than a couple of years there will be many more mirrorless cameras than DSLR. It's not my opinion, it's simple reality. I have nothing against old school. I have a medium format Yashica (Mat124G) and I really to take pictures with it

Anyway, I love my brick and the hand thing is still a big deal for me.

I've been shooting Nikon since 2011 and I've been hearing rumors of their demise since then.

My brother works for Canon (he hates me, lol) and I've heard of their struggles in markets as well.

There will always be a need for professional cameras for professional photographers. Canon does a much better job in that regard. That said, Nikon has essentially said they're shifting away from DSLRs to Mirrorless, though not completely. We'll continue to see a small set of them in both full frame and cropped sensor, but mirrorless is where they're putting their eggs moving forward, and I'm cool with that. Electronic viewfinders are getting better by the year and whatever it is that you can't do with one that you can do with a DSLR will likely be a quickly closing gap - but yes, there will always be high end DSLRs available.

With that said, I bought my D600 in 2013 and it was replaced by a D610 under warranty a year later thanks to the issues they had with the shutter. It's essentially 6-7 year old tech so to seen it blown out when a replacement for the D750 (5 year old tech) is on the horizon is no surprise. It's still a great camera and this deal is stupid good if someone wants a solid Full Frame Nikon for not a lot of $$.

This....

The discount's more than the package. And it's a terrific unit.

FYI, the link in the OP still works but it's no longer listed among the SALE DSLR's if you just go to the Deals page.

D610 & D810 have officially been discontinued, as I'd thought.
