I would enjoy working hard to try to capture something worthy of a Robert Frank challenge entry.

Just learned about him today. He seems like he would qualify as a street photographer, but there are more aspects to his photography.

He would sometimes include blatant symbolism with a political edge: https://www.rencontres-arles.com/en/expositions/view/220/robert-frank

or here: https://static01.nyt.com/images/2019/02/04/lens/04Frank1/04Frank1-superJumbo.jpg?quality=90&auto=webp

or here: https://static01.nyt.com/images/2019/09/06/obituaries/00frank11/00frank11-superJumbo-v3.jpg?quality=90&auto=webp

he also had an eye for people-free (or almost people-free) abstraction:

He was one of the greats. Street, yes, but composition was equally important. And emotion.

I just noticed that he passed away yesterday. He was 94 but it’s still a shock. Brilliant photographer and story teller.

That wouldn't be much of a challenge :-) One of the things about the great Robert Frank was that he was THERE, in the moment, and memorably. So the way to honor him would be to do the same thing, now wouldn't it?

“The Americans” challenged the presiding midcentury formula for photojournalism, defined by sharp, well-lighted, classically composed pictures, whether of the battlefront, the homespun American heartland or movie stars at leisure. Mr. Frank’s photographs — of lone individuals, teenage couples, groups at funerals and odd spoors of cultural life — were cinematic, immediate, off-kilter and grainy, like early television transmissions of the period. They would secure his place in photography’s pantheon. The cultural critic Janet Malcolm called him the “Manet of the new photography.”
