Hello Wazz!

I still am in awe over your jumping chains image!

Welcome home!

G'day all, long time since I've poked my nose in here. I re-upped membership the other day based on the hope that the forthcoming changes will enliven the site and bring a whole new range of people along with it. I made a bunch of new mates in DPC land, lots of whom I still chat with over at FB and such. I am grateful for the learning and development I experienced here as a photographer, the exercising of my creative brain when being challenged photographically, and for the long term genuine friendships that evolved from this site. I've definitely missed it. Welcome back?!

Ha! You too eh?

Hotel California... ;)

Actually remembering to come back and look is a whole other thing.

Bear_Music with a golden icon for a start! Have a chuckle about how behind the times I am :)

But Langdon leaving? Wow! Didn't expect to see that. Thank you Langdon for everything you did for me back in the day, putting your faith in me to help out with the SC, and with my little contribution to this version of the website. I'm a fully fledged graphic designer nowadays but the little icons around about this place were probably one of my first forays into it! Its nice to see them still here, at least for a little bit longer :)

Wow, you must be like a proper grown up now yeah? Nice to see old faces appearing, including mine - might try and tempt Saberi back in to say hi..

I think I ought to count as OG here. 2002 was a LONG time ago. I can't believe this still looks all the same and everything is still here.

Good luck with the future, Langdon!

Haha! Last post 215 months ago, last challenge entry 2003! Old Guard AWOL, that's our Kimbly. Tell us you're back to play again? Compared to you I'm a n00b, Dec 2004 :-)

It's so funny, this is like a time capsule for me! Got to say, seeing what my work looked like and what I wrote as a 23 year old is a combo of cringe and WTF :-) After 9 more years of school, a husband, 2 kids, and an actual career, life has a way of changing your perspective both photographically and otherwise.

G2 was an awesome camera for it's time. Who would have ever thought that my phone is so much better at this point!

I did just place an order for a Sony A7iii, so maybe I'll throw my hat in again. We'll see!

Oh, we HOPE you stay 'n play! It's a lot of fun to see the OG drift back in. Note that we have a color portrait challenge going right now. Kids photogenic? Have at 'em :-)

Oh yeah!
What really boggles my mind is how well some of my cringe-worthy photos did all those 18 years ago.

I may have to throw my hat back into the ring... After 7 years and looking at my photos in my portfolio, I think I learned a lot .. Ive gone from being unsure most of the time, invested in myself and learned new stuff.. bought two cameras, extra lenses and practicing A WHOLE LOT.. I have started a sports photography business (sports action and portraits).. I now freelance for an online sports and entertainment magazine and shooting arena football and pro soccer.. and now pro women's hockey.. Nothing but looking to the future now!

The coders are coding. There's a core crew of tech-savvy DPCers that's been advising Mita, and they (and to a lesser extent I) are working at debugging the pages the coders are creating. It's a laborious process. It won't be all that long until we have a Beta up that we'll invite the community to play with and comment on, but I can't predict exactly when that will be. Be assured, work is proceeding apace.

The Beta will basically be a remodeled version of what we have now: the changes will be in how it LOOKS and in how tightly it is CODED but the functionality will hardly be changing at all. When we get that working seamlessly, the site will migrate to the new platform and then from that point on we'll be able to discuss and implement changes in functionality with relative ease.

That's the way I understand it anyway :-) I'm sure Mita will add his 2 cents worth if I have misrepresented anything...
