Oh my..... I just stuck my head in here for the first time in a very long time, and was thrilled to see this thread.

I will keep popping in from time to time to keep an eye on this development.

Is there any way to have a "sticky" post where we can find out what the current thoughts, plans, developments and actual changes are? Maybe even a suggestion box?

Wishing DPC all the best with a glorious revival! I'm excited :-)

Yes, that's basically what I'd like to see incorporated into the official site. With a properly organized database it should be a reasonable ask :-)

Life is insanely busy. (Ahh sweet success... LOL)..

But, I'm planning on getting involved here again. This was just fortuitous timing.

LOL. Just work, Onewheel, life and my side businesses.

Nothing really unusual, but, busy.. though, I AM getting close to finally getting samples of that suspected crater offshore of Miami..

*Shrug*. Busy. ;-)

Interesting changes afoot. Great news all around. I'll look forward to seeing the changes, and look backward with admiration at all of you who have kept this site active and alive for so long. Methinks its time to drop back in for awhile and get to know you all again.

It's amazing to see so many old familiar names.

I'll echo Rachel and Karen and just say my history is here, too. Even though it's kinda sparse of late. But with the CRS disease, it's nice to come back here and see what I was up to a few years ago!

Well, things are changing. I guess I'll have to stick my head in more often to see how things are progressing.

A quick clarification and an update:

Clarification: Continuity is a major requirement of the renovation effort. The portfolios, scores, ribbons, comments and posts are all to be kept in the new site.

Update: We expect to have a beta version of the new site with partial functionality in about 4 months. If all goes well it will allow to submit images, vote, comment and post to threads. Your feedback during the beta period will be invaluable in debugging the new code. Stay tuned.

Well glad I took a moment to view the most recent DPC email I received and I am thrilled to hear that new updates are afoot. A huge thank you to Langdon for creating this site and all the work he has done to keep it up and running over the years. The site council and Bear have been wonderful leaders keeping the heart and soul of DPC available to all users. Now the transformation begins and I truly hope that we can attract new members. I have recommended DPC to multiple people over the years but none have followed through with growing their skills through weekly challenges. I'm sure there will be additional changes down the road but mostly we need to embrace and welcome new folks when they come so they also get hooked and can grow with us! One idea I have had is a newbie challenge - maybe once a month or a quarter for people who are either new to DPC or have entered fewer than a certain number of challenges. This would give them an opportunity to compete against other newbies and win that first ribbon before swimming in the deep end with the more experienced photographers and would have the benefit of getting feedback from the more experienced members.

There aren't too many entries at the moment so that could be a problem but what about a handicap idea of some sort? For example, Anita ( Neat) gets automatically deducted 1.5 points or more from the final score? ;)
