We're thrilled to share with you that after dedicating 17 years of time and resources to creating, maintaining, and supporting the DPChallenge site and community Langdon decided to transfer DPC ownership and rights to long-time member Mitalapo. It's a bittersweet moment because Langdon has been the core driver of the site all these years, but he felt it was time for him to move on with other projects.

Mita's goal is to invest in changes to the website to help it prosper again whilst staying committed to the friendly and cooperative spirit of the community. The first step will be a complete re-coding to freshen and modernize the website and make it tablet/mobile-friendly so it better suits the way photographs are consumed today. This will take some months to complete, but it WILL happen soon.

At this point, no changes are contemplated to the core values of the site: education through friendly competition within a warm and responsive community that welcomes newcomers with open arms. We have sort of atrophied a bit in recent years as far as community involvement goes, but we are determined to reach out and energize the site again.

We will keep the community informed as we finalize plans and set goals, and we encourage your feedback, participation, and support in making the transition a fruitful one.

Fantastic news!! DPC goes on!

And sad too as without Langdon there would be no DPC. This feels like an end of an era.

This is great news, especially if the DPL will now be a semi-automated process for those wishing to be involved.

Wow, this is amazing news! I am glad to see that there will be coding changes implemented to help DPC grow and make it mobile friendly!

Sad too for DPC was founded by both Langdon and Drew and from them DPChallenge became a great place to learn, compete, and grow. Thanks to both of them for creating this website.

Wow! This is huge breaking news! Langdon, THANK YOU for all the hard work you have put into this amazing site for so many years! I can’t even imagine how much work is involved! When I got my first flutterings of passion for the art of photography, I was SO CLUELESS!!! But over the years, the diverse themes, education (even the education learned the hard way thru brutal comments), the format of letting us all see each others’ settings and descriptions... all those things have helped me grow to a professional level, even having shared an art gallery with artists in other mediums for several years where so much of the work I sold was DPchallenge photos! I tell everyone that so much of what I know as a photographer was learned here! Thank you so much!

Mita, I’m excited to see your touch of creativity and genius, and am looking forward to some sweet glory days in the future!

Sounds like a step in the right direction. When can we hear in more detail about the forthcoming changes? Thank you Langdon for your inspiration in developing DPC and carrying it for so many years. We all owe you a debt of gratitude.

Fantastic news! This makes me feel easier about the future of DPC, as I would miss it so much. The photographer I am today is because of what I have learned on this site. Thank you Langdon for sticking with it for so long, I think you have made a wise choice in Mita. Also, thanks to Mita for taking this on. Looking forward to see where we go from here.

Fabulous news!! Congratulations Mitalapo and loads of thanks to Langdon. I’m so looking forward to seeing where this will take us!

Many thanks to Langdon for the years of keeping this going and for hanging in there this long. Maybe an upcoming challenge should be "Retirement Gift," images of gold watch, or huge important creature breaking out of a confined room, or other appropriate recognition for Langdon (expert editing).

Glad to hear website improvements are in the works. Knowing that transitions often have unexpected bumps, I'll stash away some extra patience to tap into as needed, and I'd encourage the site council to keep the information flowing frequently and copiously to help all of us navigate the process well.

Many, many thanks to Langdon for seventeen years of what can only be described as the best damn photographic community on the web! Here's to Mita for taking on what will surely be a huge commitment. Looking forward to what is to come.

Thank you Langdon for all the time you've dedicated for this site. I'm glad you'll be able to get a rest and I'm looking forward to having Mitalapo and looking forward to the future of DPChallenge. Happy Days ahead to both of you.

Firstly thanks to Langdon for creating this Fab website in the first place and secondly thanks to Mitalapo for continuing this on. Gasping to see what the future holds for all on here.

I would like to take this opportunity and thank our own Bear bear_music, without whom this site would have probably shutdown multiple times during the last several years. Robert has carried most of the heavy lifting during these years being both the active Administrator and an SC leader. I certainly hope we can continue to count on his good service to this community.

Langdon has graciously agreed to continue support us during the coming months as we make our first steps in mastering the ins and outs of the site code, data and interfaces. Your patience and support during this transition process is greatly appreciated.

Mita, there will be inevitable glitches over the coming months. We will be prepared for them! The key, from a user perspective, is communication - if the site experiences down time, a quick note to the unofficial Facebook page would be really useful and appreciated. Looking forward to the next stage in the life of DPC under your curate-ship - it has certainly become a huge part of the lives of many of us.

And I'll sure that we'll bitch and moan asking the way. So I suggest you hire art right away in the beginning to start burning The villages!

Kudos to Langdon for providing a home for us misfits. And kudos to Mita for being our new landlord. Even though you've already seen the damage we've done to the place. :)
