I put these three images in a contest at Fine Art America. Every image that gets at least 250 votes during the public voting period (now until July 31) will be featured on the FAA Instagram account and will move on to the juried round.

Happy Gecko
Empty Cages
Koi Abstract

If you are not already signed up at FAA, you will need to create a free account to vote. It’s easy to do, and if you subsequently get an e-mail you don’t want, just unsubscribe. Please take the time to do this AND let me know in comments so I can thank you for the support.

If you are already a member at FAA, just login to your existing account and vote. You can vote for as many different people and images as you want, one time each. We’re all in the race to get to 250 votes . . . beyond that it’s up to the jury. If you have entries in the contest yourself, send me the link and I'll be happy to vote for them.

Done. Good luck.

Thanks, GinaRothfels
Just noticed that I grabbed the wrong image from my Workshop.

Now the hyperlinks don't look right, either. But I don't want to mess with them if they are fine for others. Does editing the original post mess up links?

Edit to say: got it now! Operator error, of course. I don't do this stuff often.

Edit to clarify. Two days into the contest, a 25 vote per FAA member limit was put on the contest.

Thanks to everyone who has voted. You can only vote once, so you are done :)

I have decided to focus my attention on the Gecko and the Koi. My only real hope is to get them on the contest leader board. The gecko currently has 82 points, the koi 77. The lowest leader board image has 115. Can you help me close the gap a bit?

If you already follow me on Facebook - or want to do so, you can vote from there - here's a link to my page: Nikki on Facebook That way you will not need to sign up at FAA.

Thanks.

Shouldn't the images receive votes on their own merits, if you want votes just point people to the link and have them vote on the best images, not yours in particular? In my opinion, it's no different than to ask that people on this site vote higher on your photos not being fair to the rest.

Sorry you feel that way . . . and I would (and do, too) when a contest is actually about artistic excellence. Indeed, in that case, I probably wouldn't participate and certainly would not solicit.

This is a publicity gimmick for Fine Art America. The company WANTS us to solicit. They WANT us to get as many different people as possible to sign in to the site . . . or up for it. That is how they make their money. As incentive for us (members) to do exactly that, they are offering us a free t-shirt (which I don't want) for the first 25 votes (on each image). EVERYONE who has at least 25 votes on an image can get one. EVERYONE who has at least 150 votes on an image at the end of the contest will get a certificate for a free canvas wrap (up to 36" on long side) of an image of their own and of their own choice. THAT'S actually what I'm interested in :)

And, as I explained, every image that gets at least 250 votes during the public voting period will move on to the juried round. THAT is where the "quality" or "artistic merit" or whatever you want to call it will be determined . . . and it will be determined by the company. They want to feature five different images on billboards around the LA area (where they are based). I have no illusions at that point.

But should you want to go through the images in the contest and vote for some based on artistic merit, gipper11, please do so. So far, there are over 11,000 entries. Here is the main contest link. (Now you know why the company provided every single entrant with a sharable link to his or her image(s) :) )

Thanks, Janine. No, the good thing about this one is that once per image is all you get so there's none of that trying to remember to go in every 24 hours and vote again thing that I'm so bad at . . . though my intentions are the best :)

Personally I disagree with you (which does not make me right and you wrong :-)). In today's social media world, that is what you do on those "who gets the most votes" - type contests. It's just how things are :-). Personally I find it a bit awkward quite frankly, but I think I am a bit old for some modern trends :-). Sometimes I need to "loosen up more and go with the flow ... (easier said than done ;-P).

In this particular instance it is even "less wrong" (oh my gosh, what a sentence :-)), because any voter could go in and vote for each picture once, you are not restricted to only 1 vote.

Here on DPC "we are the judges" and you rank images against each other (there have been plenty of posts of how even not voting on all images in a challenge can skew the outcome, etc). That is very different to the above.

Anyway, just my 2 c :-).

My thanks to those who have already stepped up. Since you can only vote once, you are done :)

Happy Gecko is at 99

Koi Abstract is at 91

Thanks so much, GeneralE

He was limping along and up to 104. Then I got a bright idea. I do a print give-away on a local Facebook page about twice a month. This time I had a duplicate of the print I wanted to offer because my printer wanted to see what it would look like on metallic paper and made two for me. I got permission to offer one on the page itself as usual . . . but to invite people to my personal page to vote for a chance at the second one. It has pretty much stalled out, but that push got me to 125 and put the gecko on the leader board for at least a few hours.

He could sure use another vote or two, though, to extend his stay. So if anyone who hasn't voted is reading this, here's my personal Facebook page.

Really, since people can vote for both of us, once they are signed in somewhere (FAA or FB), they might as well do it :)
