Seriously?

Do you know how FAR from me a beach is? I imagine it's quite far for MOST people. And not everyone who lives within an hour of a beach can get to it within two weeks.

We might as well have a challenge called "The Feather second from the left on the Tail of an Eagle in Midflight".

Ha!

I can't find the original suggestion but I found this:
On the beach III

and these challenges:
On the beach I
On the beach II

Did you see what won? All photos of a large body of water... and they even had 325 entries in one of those! Wow!

Also, those two even had the added benefit of a description: "Take a trip to the beach and make a photograph of something you find there. For the purposes of this challenge, a "beach" is any strip of land bordering a body of water, be it ocean, lake, pond, or river." they were all large bodies of water.

I would never question a lakeshore being a beach. I lived in Minnesota most of my life, and we certainly went "to the beach".

I'm just sad that it didn't start two days ago. I had some great shots from Saturday!

On something unrelated I can see that you have a new lens and a new camera! And the lens is the same I have! Damn, there goes my lens domination ;)

Get a bucket of sand and some of those tiny "cocktail umbrellas" and make your own beach ... though (real) tiny people may be harder to locate ...

Tiny beach, eh? So, a real son of a beach in other words...

It's just a variation of the three mentioned earlier, with a different title to encourage different interpretations. Lydia, get all your water toys and your neighbor's water toys and shoot your son trying to stuff them all into the back of a Porsche, with the appropriate ironic title :-) Get CREATIVE folks, that's what challenges are FOR.

I thought it was to photograph exactly what people expect in an outstanding manner, so that you win.

Not every challenge is going to work equally well for everybody, that's just the way it is :-)

Living in Southern California has its advantages. It doesn't matter if the challenge is beach, mountains, desert, or forest!

We as a group are so varied and being on sabbatical this past year, I've enjoyed seeing everyone interpretations of something that would be so simple to photograph for winning but every now and then someone really lets you see what they see. This is very enlightening. Thanks for all you creative people.

Okay . . . I live in Nebraska. Check it out on a map if you don't recognize the name. And I hereby pledge to find SOMETHING that I can call pass off as a beach. I shall enter this one.

weve got the drop on you there is no place here that is more than 3k's from any beach.

I can hitch a ride and be there in 10/15 minutes

We're in luck in the UK. The rain we're having at the moment is creating beaches where there have never been any before. The office car park is an option but the play park might be more scenic......

That's the spirit!

Not being familiar with Nebraska, are there any rivers or creeks near you? Many times they have a little "beach" along the banks at certain locations.
