- “Almost the definition of art”
Yes, these were the words of Posthumous on my instagram @jorjes.official

And you... Do you think this is art?
What is your definition of art? (please use your own wild words)

Cheers & Stay Wild

PS: The message bellow I took from a private conversation with Don, where he suggested me to post it on the forums.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the raw words on my instagram. That’s the way I like it ;))

Do you really think there's space to invite people around the “Posthumous Ribbon”, to my instagram, without being considered spam?

Any ideia how to do it?

2 things I would love to message to the people:

1. Never give up !!! (if you go to my dpchallenge page, my very 1rst entry was a disaster. It was what I wanted to do with photography, but didn’t work with the people. So, I decided to start the journey “How to please people”, because I wanted my work to be accepted. And once I got there, I returned to my approach with all the things I learned and started working on my vision, developing my own visual language. Man, dpchallenge is a great school and I always advise people to go to dpchellenge if they want to learn photography)

2. There is no such thing “To be right or to be wrong”. Everybody deserves a place and be respected for what they do with their best efforts. No one borns a star, but for sure, with a lot of work and following a dream, everyone can get there. So supporting the people is a must, specially and considering that this is a learning place. Of course there are ribbons, but ribbons just means “You should Know what’s going on a pic accepted by the masses. You should understand the rules, the basics of composition, color and editing. In a few words, you should control what you are doing with photography”. Besides that, you can decide what you want to do. Stay and do more of the same, or go your own way and break the rules (remember, before you can break the rules, you must first understand them).
But nevertheless dpchallenge is a great place, so please respect and give support to everyone.

It is very nice to see you visit this place, I wish you stayed and participated!!! :) We need more photogs!

Just to stir up a bit - I think there are ribbons that perpetuate the same but there are also ribbons for unique artistic photos like those of ursula and many other really good DPCers like yourself. And I have seen many really good photos obeying all rules and not getting ribbons so maybe it is best to see ribbons as motivational tool and not determinant of what is good or bad, artistic or not :)

It's great to see you at DPC.

In case you don't know, "Posthumous Ribbons" were De Sousa's idea. He made it happen.

Giving ribbons is a great experience, a learning experience, and I recommend it to everyone. Every work of art is its own definition, and trying to put that definition into words on each photo is an eye opening exercise.

Always great to see old names pop up. Thanks for dropping by.

To answer your question, there is no answer to your question. Art is an individual thing.
