The former Blue Ribbon in the "Regret(s)" challenge has been disqualified due to a camera date snafu :-( Congrats to our new ribboner and HM.

If you think about it, he really owned the challenge.

Why did it take so long to do this?

Before Bear came "on board", it could take three weeks to get a verdict.

One week... by the next challenge rotation... is all it took this time.

I'm NOT saying that I don't understand the frustration of a week, but... SC works very hard at this. They don't like to DQ anyone... so if they have a potential reason to DQ... they deliberate for as long as it takes to reach a verdict.

I like this.

Although... I've been the "victim" in it several times.

I truly think that they're doing their best. They all have lives of their own and volunteer here. They don't get paid. So... we wait.

Me... sometimes impatiently... but only because I'm anxious... not because they're actually taking "too long".

:D

There was a time, I was scared to ribbon :) got 2blue DQ this year already. Now I don't adventure on the obscure path of maybe anymore.

This is a reasonable question -- this DQ took longer than we all would have liked. The Site Counsel does try to validate things quickly --- being mindful that, in the case of a DQ, someone will have been missing out on their rightful time on the DPC front page. Typically, everything goes smoothly, and we are able to validate images in a timely fashion. While I am not going to go into the specifics of this case, know that there are a number of things that can throw a wrench into the works and cause delays. If there are any issues with the original submitted for validation, we may have to wait for the user to respond to questions (user are not always quick to respond), the user may have to submit a new file (more waiting and essentially restarting the validation process), and/or it may take some time for discussion among the SC to determine the best path forward. All of this can add up quickly -- while the clock is ticking. Know that we are always trying to move things along, and we appreciate your patience with the process.
