| As photos, they're good. I'm glad though that I am not at the age of being empowered like this |

Interesting.. when I was their age I was chopping paths through the woods and building forts. No one had to dress me up for empowerment because as a tomboy I was already that way. Not that I didn't like pretty clothes. I probably would have enjoyed being dressed up and photographed like those little girls only I'm not sure I would have fully understood the significance behind it. Of course, we're talking over 60 yrs ago.. things were very different back then. |

| I've never hung out with "girly girls" from childhood on, and I don't recall any mothers trying to turn their girls into same either, so I guess I lived in a microcosm of some sort. Seeing these pictures makes me sort of uneasy, to be honest. Everyone seems to be talking about them like "your princess can be a cowgirl too!" but I'm seeing a hint of "it's not too late to steer your cowgirls towards the princess goal" as well. I'm just contrary, I guess. |

| The photos could hint of "steering your cowgirls towards the princess goal." Although I see it as more of a contrast of imagery depicting the extremes of female bad-ass athletes and girly-girl princesses in one shot. |

I'd be happier if the set included little boys embracing feminine stereotypes :-) |

| Even more interesting would be photos of little boys dressed in similar attire as the little girls except it would probably stir up too many hornets nests. |

| It might make a point but to me it is just an ugly combination. Boys could obviously wear the same outfits but I am sure they wouldn't like them. It makes no sense to me for the girls to like them. Just to make it clear - I am ALL for equality, it is just not a way to do it. |

| The world is FULL of guys who liked to (or wanted to) dress up in Mama's clothes when they were little. Mostly it got beaten out of them :-( |

Not kids being kids but kids being what the parents want them to be, in this case it’s to be special and popular with a new idea for a photo shoot that we can pin a popular concept on.
She said she couldn’t sleep and why did her little girl have to choose, the girl never asked for this choice, the parent put her little girl in that choice and she can’t sleep because of her own desire to make her girl be special. When you get to the bottom it’s not even for the benefit of the girl at all but purely for the parent, no different from animal shoots but with animal shoots we don’t pull the wool over our eyes about why it’s done, we know it’s for us.

I agree -- these are girls dressed as girls doing "boy things" -- I think the equivalent would be something like boys dressed in cowboy hats/boots while ironing clothes or baking a cake or darning socks or other stereotypical "girl things" ...

| We should probably be past all this by now but unfortunately, we're not. Maybe we'll never be, I guess time will tell. |
