Nope -- it's obvious:

Too bad I don't have access to my green guy anymore!

Green portrait photography always includes a person.. it's not the most flattering color but can be used as a monotone.

Definition 2 from Wiktionary:

(figuratively) An accurate depiction of a person, a mood, etc.

"The author painted a good portrait of urban life in New York in his latest book."

I don't think Katee wearing a green mask will do it in this challenge ;)

PS Sorry, wrong spelling of Katee

lol .. no way would I have entered katee !!! ..
another species entirely ..!!.. ;)

but yes Paul GeneralE .. everywhere I looked online it said 'person' .. when I was hoping to find that a portrait could be of something other than a person ..

i doubt I'd enter what I was thinking of as it would not fit the definition for most of the voters ..
however in voting .. if I see a 'portrait' of a sheep or a dog or a cow etc .. I would most definitely think of it as a portrait and mark it accordingly..

You can use green surroundings or attire for your portrait but I would stick with a human subject.

I searched thru the Challenge Suggestion threads and couldn't find the original request for this challenge. ??? Thought maybe there'd be some insight there. Guess not.

The original suggestion was in a list of 4 or 5, a while ago. No challenge description was suggested.

People should just make of it what they will. As far as I'M concerned, a shot of someone recycling would be a "green portrait", for example. So would a frog, or a Parakeet. Green body paint? Sure! A portrait done in a green environment? Absolutely. And so forth and so on.

In general, I do wish folks would worry less about what the challenge proposer expected to see and more about what they can do to creatively interpret the challenge :-) (This remark is NOT directed at you, Barry, it's just an observation about this sort of thread.)

No worries. I was mostly curious. Interesting / somewhat bizarre theme.

Better if new challenges arise from the challenge suggestion thread so that they have been properly vetted (e.g. perspective compression). Many member suggestions are not being used. If using a suggestion from a less detailed multiple suggestion post, just ask for appropriate resubmission or clarification in a separate post.
Related issue: there are just too many challenges

But as a Registered User you can only participate in Open challenges once a week? Even as a Member you wouldn't have to participate in all challenges! I am a bit confused why this is an issue.

I have been a continuously paying member since 2006 but allowed membership to lapse a few days ago while I evaluate whether it's worth re-upping. My comment about too many challenges is not about my own entries; it's about the thinning of votes and participants, as well as the difficulty of finding enough good topics.

Bear is doing a great job, even if some choices are somewhat confusing :) At least they generate some activity in the forums that have gone dead after the great two Side Challenges. We need another Side Challenge to start soon!!

We don't actually HAVE any more challenges than we have for a long time: it's just that the 2-week submission period keeps them on the open submissions list for longer.

I love that thought and agree 100%! I think if the voters would allow for a little more creative interpretation when casting their votes, the artists submitting photos would feel a little more comfortable letting their creativities go. I see so many comments on cool photos with low scores that say it doesn’t meet the challenge. I hope with “Green Portrait” we will see some grace :)
