I seem to expire about this time every year. Doctors should be able to figure out the cause.

People say that the cost of DPC is so incredibly cheap for what you get.

I beg to differ. It's not cheap -- though you get a lot.

What DPC has cost me over the last ten years (I just realized that I hit 10 years 2 months ago! How come you guys didn't throw me a party!?)

Let's see -- starting from the beginning:

1. Massive amount of meal worms. The only reason I wanted bluebirds was to photograph them and to post here. So the cost of about 7 years of mealworms
2. A cheap teddy bear to put in the road:

3. all the flowers over the years

4. false walls
5. SPAM!
6. ballons for multiple entries:
7. Lots of fruit -- although mostly pears
8. potato chips
9. ice cream
10. alcohol
11. meals:

AND THE IT STARTED GETTING EXPENSIVE!!

1. Meeting Bear_music and hearing about the 24-105mm lens. Yup -- had to buy one
2. Learning about Topaz. Yup. Bought it
3. Heading about ColorEfex, Viveza, and buying them at the original price
4. Trip to Florida to meet ja-9 & Waddie
5. Trip with Janine to the northeast
6. Available light not good enough? Buy some photography bulbs.
7. Those not good enough? Upgrade to flashes. Buy four flashes and modifiers
8. Outgrew those? Lets try one studio light.
9. studio light is fun? Lets get a couple more.
10. add some umbrellas and softboxes
11. need some white paper for a backdrop.
12. need something to hold it -- stands, backdrop holders
13. some more backdrops?
14. 150-600mm lens for better reach.

And then the canon noise is getting too frustrating

1. so then it's time to go mirrorless
2. need some good lenses.
3. Let's try a tele extender
4. oh yeah, and photoshop went to renting instead of buying so monthly software payments

Then there's the things that I already have, but took the chance of ruining

I'm starting to think that $25 it just too expensive!!

Hahahahaha!

You're so right!

But, it's all still worth it... even if I only get to see your masterpieces, Wendy!

Congratulations on TEN YEARS!

So true Wendy. I’ve resorted to a budget on props for pictures. My basement is starting to look like the warehouse at Universal Studios. I never know when I might just need one of those props again and can’t seem to get myself to throw them out!.

Another 5 years and I can retire.

...hmm, I can't remember if I checked to see if there was a pension fund when I signed up. *gulp* I sure hope so, considering the amount of time I invested here.

Yes but each and every item on your list is priceless!!!

ETA: $25 is chump change compared to that list!

Your not kidding!!! Our daughter, husband and G’son are moving in for a few months while they try to figure out what they want to do - but, build or build on their lot...

Since I’m an empty nester I’ve taken advantage and spread out my “stuff” (roll of eyes). Needless to say I have to bring it all together (shock) it’s a rediculous amount of “stuff” - worst of all - I live in Florida - no basements (headslap).

I joined on March 11, 2004 and have donated a lot of my equipment to the photographic class at the local high school. I did also donate several cameras to the children of some refugees who came to this country from war torn regions of the world.

Truth be told, I still have a rather expensive lens that I never once used, and which I might donate to a very dear Australian friend of mine the next time I visit.

What I cherish the most from my tenure here is the wonderful experiences I have had with members, some incredible memories and attending some fantastic get togethers in the USA, Canada, Australia and other places... and having made some incredible and lasting friends.

Thank you all for what has been to date a truly memorable experience.

Ray

Wow, I'm excited! But I have to correct you - I'm not Australian.
