I've been here a week or two and have seen changes over the last decade or so. I have always enjoyed the finite parameters of the shooting/voting/front page time frames.

The addition of the Archival challenges on a select basis is a real treat IMO.

I have found myself in a position more than once that either from a great shoot, or vacation, or whatever that I've had a difficult choice picking an entry because I have two, or even three, that I really like.

These Archival challenges give me a chance to utilize some of the images that otherwise wouldn't have been entered.

This winter challenge enabled me to put one out there that I had very much wanted to enter a long time ago.

Thanks, DPC!

Not as much choice for me on that particular topic, but that's because I live in the South.

I agree, I just went through last winter and was surprised at looking at them. I think mainly as I now not look for the best picture to put in the challenge, but be more objective at what strikes my fancy. I seem to have enjoyed last November very much without realizing it.

That doesn’t matter - enter what you have - and of course as always - your title will be key...

On the beach you can draw a snowman in the sand...etc...

I agree 100% with Jeb...I love the archival challenges - I get to troll through my stuff - find all kinds of hidden gems - pick from other developed/passed over entry choices and best of all - it’s not a once a year challenge!!!

Archival challenges are nice because I can enter without doing the work (meaning, that if I'm busy, I can still enter something if I don't have time to go out and shoot)

HOWEVER!!

It shows how lousy I am at organizing. No key words, no way of finding photos other than going through them folder by folder!! My files are as messy as my house. :)

+1 to NikonJeb

The archival challenges are a significant part of my recent re-engagement here. I'd been off the site for almost a year (due to a move and some post-retirement workload surprises). I think it's a great way to keep folks active and (in my case, at least) get them looking at all the challenges again. I've submitted for 12 challenges since January 10 (7 of which were NOT archival) and voted in all challenges since then. I'm also deep into the PPChallenge side challenge!
