Boxy composition is not a term I'm familiar with.
Is it as in square frame? Or square composition within other aspect ratios? Left to interpretation?

Maybe we should ask the person who suggested this, otherwise this challenge will be open to many interpretations... that also could be a plus ;)

This photo did come to mind when I thought about this challenge.

It's open to many interpretations. The person who proposed the challenge chose NOT to provide a narrow definition. Show us what it means to YOU!

Not a term I'm familiar with in terms of composition, either, MarioPierre, but I did a definition search on just the word "boxy" and came up with "restricted in tone" (which I don't think applies here) and "cramped" (which I suspect does apply). So I would guess the viewer felt "boxed in" by the composition and wanted more space - possibly just in one or two directions, possibly all around. Just my guess, though.

Ah, I obviously misinterpreted the reason for the question. Sorry. Still, maybe the definition of 'boxy' is germaine.

I guess it definitely could give someone "an edge". ;)

"boxy" makes me think of a fashion style (Channel?), a suit with a sort of short tight skirt, a jacket that could almost be made out of a packing box, torn apart and of a suitable cloth; all topped by a pillbox hat. very haute, very unfeminine.

Those creations are cool. Like playing paper dolls with people.

Please remember to resize large images if you're inserting them into a thread, or turn it into a thumbnail. Thank you!
