If anybody is in Washington, DC I'd recommend visiting the Bill Traylor show at the American Art Museum. Not for everybody, I couldn't help overhear some eye rolling comments, but the historical significance is reason enough to visit. It's primitive work but has a very modern feel. The linked Washington Post article is a nice read and you can always google him to see more.
