So I have smugmug. I love that people can place their orders, but they charge too much. I'd lose $270 doing it that way. I'd rather handle the orders myself and get the $270.

Which brings up the question -- anyone know of any good FREE options for creating an online order form? Survey monkey charges to export the data. :(

Wendy,
I don't really have an answer for your question, but I am curious - what percentage of the total sale is the $270? How much of the $270 would you spend anyway in your time, printing costs, and shipping costs (shipping, materials, insurance)?

I'll have to look up what total we assumed.

It's for a group of boy scouts, for whom my husband is an assistant scout master. So delivery is just putting them in a bag and laying them out on a table. No shipping. I use WHCC, so no shipping costs when sent to me. So the main cost is how long it takes to get the order and place it with WHCC.

If this is just a one-off deal, simply use PayPal. It will cost you about 3%.

Use Excel to make an order form and put it on Google Docs and get the Scout Master to send the link to everyone. Put your email address in the form. Let them fill it out and email it back to you.

You can put in formulas to total up the amounts so people will know what they are going to be billed.

Email them an invoice via PayPal, then get your prints made once everyone has paid.

This is about the only way you can get it done CHEAP and keep most of the money.

Anything else is going to require you paying the freight for being in the game.

Oooh, I didn't know I could email an invoice via pay pal. I just figured I'd have to do a regular email directing them there. That's pretty cool! I'll look into it. 3% I can handle.

Thanks!
