Just a reminder for new members and those just returning who may have forgotten how to use the score buttons: if you'd like to give an image a "10", you must type or click on "0". If you try to click 1 and 0, it will only count the first digit and score the image a "1".

That is all. Carry on.

This is exactly why I submit entries that encourage 9s.

If we included 0 in the voting scale (0-10) then the average would be 5 instead 5.5 :P

I don't see 0 but I do see 10. Clearly if you vote 10 it will show on the top of the images voted on when you're thru. So if your favorite image is not at the top, go back and review!!

Penny, good point about checking the order of the images when you’re finished voting. But clearly someone is making mistakes.

The problem occurs when voting with the keyboard rather than the mouse. With the mouse you can click on the number scale below the photo, and you get what you expect. But if you try to enter “10” with the keyboard you will actually give the photo a “1”, since only one digit is recorded. Some of the top scoring photos, have been receiving a “1” vote, effecting the overall average. Rather than assuming there is a troll, it seems more reasonable to assume some voter(s) is voting “1” by accidentally using the keyboard wrong.

Why vote with a keyboard when there is a number scale right there beneath the photo?

Number pad is much easier than a moose! (Or even a mouse! I love autocorrect... )

Oh, okay. (I must try it with a moose sometime.)

Are those the only two possibilities?

Actually, I think *you* are the third possibility.

This was my statement toward this issue years ago. It was trolled out the window.
I have since developed the policy of voting on all entries with the lowest score being equal to my current score. That way I am voting everyone equal to me or better. I am not suggesting that anyone do that. We can look at each other's profile page and see the average vote given vs the average vote received. I have yet to find someone voting an average that indicates that they are voting completely with 1's or 2's.

And even if someone did, it would have no effect on the rankings, only on the average scores ...

Agreed

My lack of skills and inconsistency often brings a wide range of scores within any competition.

I appreciate the feedback and knowing everyone has different tastes has helped me to be thicker skinned.

Accepting that 1 is the loneliest number is priceless life lesson.

Assuming the person dishing out only 1's and 2's voted on all the entries.

Wait...you mean I haven't been voting 0?

Hooray! There wasn’t a single “1” vote on any of the top 10 photos in the Bags challenge.

You must have already voted on my current entries. There can’t be any other explanation for my sucking scores. ; )
