Pushing the Envelope to Oblivion (Archival)
Someone could tell me the differences between this new challenge and a classical extended free study? Archival apart...

Perhaps it is a nod to the way the site is heading....

I assume some of these comments are related to the editing rules - my issue, FWIW, is the "archival" part. I hate archival challenges. But there's always the choice not to enter or vote on them. So, moving on.

so is a classic free extended studio plus archival?
Nothing special due to the title?

it is "archival" meaning you ARE ALLOWED to pull from any past, unused image. but you do not have to use an old image. you can shoot all new images.

I'd expect to see some really extreme post-processing on this. The "envelope", typically, is the tried-and-true, what we're comfortable with. I'd expect people would be motivated to go beyond that. We'll see. The challenge was proposed years ago, BTW. Int has been in the queue quite a while.

I'd like to put in a word in favor of occasional archive challenges. There are a lot of reasons why perfectly good candidate images couldn't be used during a particular past challenge and can't be duplicated currently. Nice to have the option once in a while to dip into the past collection while still having the option to make a new image to fit the challenge. My entry is already in. Will be very interested to see what others submit.
