Has anyone seen the effects of the Sunrays filter in the new Luminar software update from MacPhun?
It's a little love it or hate it feature with conversations reminisent of those leveraged towards over-us of HDR

It will be interesting to see how this filter is used on enties.. done well it can look quite realistic and dare I saw can add a 'WOW' factor to an image..

I haven't used this, but if the idea is to create artificial sun rays it's not that hard with ordinary editing software -- might be worth experimenting before investing ... :-)

So far l’ve found that subtle use adds some more dimension. I have no problem using it to enhance existing rays but to create a feature where none existed would have to be appraised on a case by case basis.

I've only seen an example or two from the software developer. Matter of personal preference, IMO. I'd never add sun rays to a photo myself, same way I'd never edit in birds in a sky. Just not my cup of tea. If I want sun rays, I'll use an appropriate lens and aperture to get them.

Looks like a really fun tool for people who do a lot of compositing.

Topaz Labs Star Effects will do the same thing with highlights in any image. Takes a bit of doing to remove the ones you don't want.
