Brisbane, Australia here...... nothing I can do for you guys apart from crossing fingers (and squeezing thumbs, which is the German good luck charm -I was brought up in/near Munich, before I moved away/) I so hope you are all fine!!!

All safe here. Honestly didn't even get much damage here. Boynton Beach kept getting lucky with the bands coming through. They'd miss us by just a few miles or so. Barely any rain. Quite a bit gusty. But nothing we couldn't handle. Few trees down but literally nothing even worthy of a photo. Haha.

In the morning light...we are fine - Praise God!!! We have no structural damage, lots of limbs down....no power (no well...ugh) BUT a friend has offered his generator to us as he still has power. Another friend has a tree on her house, one has a chimney top gone, tenses broken but over all we're good.

Curfew is still in place until this evening. Jacksonville is still being hammered. I did talk to Waddy against...he's safe n dry and guess what...has a LARGE generator!!! No power

All good here as well. Rough night. Winds are still gusting but the worst has past. Glad to hear others are safe as well!!

Whew!thanks for keeping us posted. (Waddy would of course have a generator. I understand his anti-hurricane machine isn't finished yet).

Safe here as well. Lost power around midnight, but we have a small generator. A lot of downed trees on our property but none on our house. Still raining here but the wind has finally calmed. Went through the worst of it early this morning and I thought surely we would be blown away! We have a pond that is now half way into our backyard. Driveway is flooded, but may be able to get out tomorrow.

Happy to hear all are well.

Are typhoons the same a hurricanes? Or are they stronger?

Hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons are all the same weather phenomenon. They call them different names depending upon where they occur. In the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific, the term “hurricane” is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a “typhoon” and “cyclones” occur in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean.

A "cyclone" is a more generic term, and can also refer to tornadoes (which form over land) and other rotating storms ... a related phenomenon called a waterspout which is somewhat like a small, localized hurricane.

Everyone in my family safe and accounted for.

We are scattered all throughout Florida so each of us got hit one way or another. Some harder than others but we are all safe.

:)

Photos to come when I finally get power back.

ETA - Not many photos.. Just some downed trees and such. Nothing too crazy like I said before...

This is the only tree in my neighborhood that fell. Lots of tree limbs but this is the only one that completely fell in the neighborhood.

There were lots of other places that had more damage that I took photos of but those are on my camera and not my phone so I can't upload them until I have power at my place.

More photos to come.

Still no internet at my place. AT&T doesn't seem to have their service up and running. But at least I got to sleep with the AC running! :)

Still no power---and it is making me grumpy (:
Now that the rain and clouds are gone, it is again hot and humid with no ac! I guess it could be worse.

Clay Electric, which is a rural electric company. Some of our neighborhood was restored on Monday evening' however, we are on a separate grid (19 of us) and there must be a major issue that wasn't a quick fix. The town near us (10 miles) is FPL and most of the businesses still don;t have power. This hospital power returned yesterday. Yesterday, the only business open with power was Walmart. They are doing a brisk business although no water or bread on the shelves - free coffee and donuts, lol. A big portion of Jacksonville near the St Johns River is still flooded with a lot of folks in shelters.

The local companies seem to be hit or miss on getting power back. My parents are on Lake Worth Power and Utilities and they never get power back within a week after a storm. I'd be surprised if they get power back within 2 weeks honestly. But then I've heard other local companies do REALLY well with getting power back. Here's to hoping you get it back soon! Florida heat is no fun.
