For those on the coast of Texas...

I hope beyond hope that you are safe with this storm.

This one will be a serious one... Very serious...

I'd been away from the news for a number of days. I had no idea it was getting nasty. Stay safe and check in!

Big-time nasty. A potential for storm surge of TWELVE FEET with 20-30' waves on top of that. A possibility of FOUR FEET of rain in the area between Corpus Christi and Houston. Winds currently 125 mph offshore. Hurricane Harvey is a slow-mover too, so it has the dreaded park 'n drench potential. All told, this is a potentially Biblical event :-( Nothing on that entire gulf coast is higher than 75 feet above sea level or so. It's one massive flood plain...

This is a very worrisome event...

Amazing... actually... that this much wind and force can happen!

I'm praying for safety for all in its path!

Even worse, there's a weather system to the east which may push it back offshore so it can "refresh" itself and hit again closer to Houston. Up in San Antonio (150 miles inland) they're expecting up to 15" of rain and (probable) flash-flooding.

We have a house in Jasper, TX and it's supposed to get pretty bad even though it's about 90 miles inland from Houston. I happen to be in Daytona Beach right now but my wife, Marge, and son have headed north to the Karnack, Tx house. I hope that everyone on the Texas coast heeded the warning to evacuate and are in a safe place.

eta: Being a slow mover it may make to a Cat 4 or higher. It didn't take long for it to get to a Cat 3.
