To be clear, I was a lurker for about seven years, and I didn't actually enter a challenge until 2011.

3.8! Wow I had no idea my entry would draw such disapproval!

You were right ... I've referenced people to this thread.

FWIW my entry has clawed its way to a 4+ ...

I need to study the rule set. There are filters applied in a way I didn't realize was legal (but obviously are). I think my mistake is correlating standard with the old basic.

With filters, this challenge makes a whole lot more sense.

I'm sitting at exactly 5.0 with 11 votes. Given what others are posting, I won't complain.

"Standard" is like the old "Advanced" but with more liberal interpretations of the use of filters (it's up to the voters if something is "too much") and removal of unwanted objects (you can if you replace it with what we'd see if the object never existed).

So just to clarify... I could replace all the kids in a family photo with a large pile of cash?

Very discouraged until I read this thread.. looks like I have lots of company ;-)

Based on the scoring, the only conclusion I can come to is that people just hate Van Gogh.

"Seven Years a Lurker" is now the working title of your biography.

Oh my WORD!.... That's hilarious! I'm actually rolling on the floor... laughing... wish I were doing the rest of your name... it's grown too large.

Well, mine is a total shoehorn and it's gogh-ing fine! 4.9+ at the moment though I expect it to drop any time.

Ooh, now at 5.2...so excited *eyeroll*

I'd have thought I were the obvious winner because I'm DEAF, don'tcha know, but the voters think I'm just plain average and are slotting me in the mid-5.5's

If your lifestyle includes sitting around the dinner table with a large pile of cash in the high-chair that seems logical ...

Well it obviously hasn't been my lifestyle in the past 27 years since I've raised five kids. But back in the day...

Challenge description: Study the art of this Impressionist master and distill his way of seeing in a photograph.

SEEing, Bear... not HEARing.

You're in with the rest of us.

But... GOOD TRY! *grin*

I know... I know...

my pc events recorder is working for me... opens IE, goes to DPC site, refresh and takes a print screen every 30 minutes. just collecting information...and trying to understand the voting pattern. :)
