I know that some people don't always check out the challenge flags, so this is a note to draw people's attention to the fact that the Myths, Legends and Fables extended editing challenge carries no date restriction for your digital originals. Build your myth, legend or fable from your archive - or mix it up with some new shots.

And it's an open challenge - registered users too.

Yes, I missed that too, thanks.

It says "DNG files will be considered acceptable originals" does that mean .JPG are not acceptable originals?

An original jpeg (i.e. unaltered out of camera jpeg) is a valid original for any challenge I believe.

No, it's because NORMALLY most DNG files are not considered valid originals. This is because the date information gets changed when creating a DNG file from another form of RAW file. But the dates are irrelevant in this challenge, so....

Instead of (or in addition to) a flag, I wonder if qualifying the description would make it more obvious.

"N/A" (I would take that as a Yes)

You're ALLOWED to do anything permitted by the extended editing rules, AND for this challenge you can use ANY digital images you have in your archives for which you still have a valid original and which you have not previously used in a DPC challenge. Those are the only limits on you this time around.

Short Answer: make up your own myth, legend, or fable if that's what'll float your boat or wet your whistle, people. We're hoping for as glorious free-for-all...

Going by Bear's answer, I'd say yes. N/A in the challenge descrip usually seems to mean that unless described otherwise, don't have to stick to convention.

A "Fairy Tale" is ALL of those things, guys, or can be at least. Every Fairy Tale is a Fable, many of them are also Legends, and if you probe deeply enough a LOT of Fairy Tales are rooted in ancient Myths :-)
