I took this terrible shot while tipping over my camera controls, and I got home and looked at it and loved the colors. Played with it a bit and got this.

Art of Crap?

Hits the spot for me Darlene.

Art is not about what it looks like, it's about what it "feels" like.

Great presentation.

Darlene – as I’m sure you know both art and crap are in the eye of the beholder. Sounds like you like the results of this shot so it goes to the art category! I love sunsets and have hundreds on my computer hard drive. This one is a little soft for my liking but that certainly does not put it in the “crap” bin. Keep clicking!

Art of Crap?

Crap. Too many ambiguous elements (especially due to lack of focus) throughout the considerable depth and space depicted here. Not sufficient ambiguity for an abstract perception of the image (investigation of colour/light etc.). This is what I get from it.

To take 'accidents' like this one, on the other hand, and play with it, is something I can relate to. I may lead to something of interest. The interest could end up being no more than fleeting and personal. It could also be profound.

I'd take any image in your port over this one. :-(

Not me. It's much better than the corn.

It has the color of crap, but I think I'll categorize it in the art category. Works well.

I like it Darleen it has almost an abstract feeling to it.

Not to my liking, and the two sail boats gets lost in the silhouette. Colors don't do anything for me either and leave me feeling nothing. Sorry, just trying to give you honest feedback.

Since I've been fiddling with everyone else's pictures tonight, I thought I'd take a stab at this one too...LOL Hope you don't mind.

I adjusted the contrast, then did some slight curves adjustment on the red and blue channels. Then I dodged the boats and the treeline. Added a slight USM and this is what I came up with. I tried to stay in the same color range as your original, just enhance it a tad. I'll take it down in a bit; just wanted to see what else could be done with it. I kind of like the original as a silhouette of sorts, but it is a little soft.

Thank you. I like this version better. I mostly started messing with it because I am exploring my Photoshop trying to learn. This gives me a great example to use and see if I can come up with the same result.

It is really interesting to see who likes and who doesn't. Thanks for giving me your opinions.

Photos like this drive me crazy... I think to myself, it has a lot of problems, like focus, lighting, whatever, but there's something about it I like anyway, and should I save it and try to make a "digi-art" image out of it, or..., etc. :)

I belive that art is anything that stirs emotion, that is why it's such a wide word to use. Music is an art form just as dance is. If this stirs some kind of emotion in the masses then it's art. The true test of art, is simply just time...
