Hey all

My laptop died recently so am having to use my Mac for Internet stuff. However as I've never used it for Internet, I am having all kinds of problems with iCloud and Apple Support (what a joke) and yes, even iForgot. Apparently my account has been locked and when I try to log in so I can reset passwords, all I get is the spinning wheel of death whenever I hit continue after filling in the security test field (random #s and letters).

Can't email Apple cause guess what, you have to be signed in, and I can't sign in because my account is still locked...any other suggestions? Apart from just sending links to that site?

Possibly, you may be inputing a wrong email address.

Secondly, there is a finite limit to the number of password attempts before you are locked out. You may need to contact support.

Alternatively, you could sign up for a new Apple ID. (It won't let you do this with an email previously used for an apple ID.) So, you'd have to use a live email address not previously used for Apple.

If you use this method, once you are "in" you might want to contact support and see if they can "merge" your accounts so your past interaction record will be preserved (if that's desirable).

Try login into to iCloud from another computer, when you try it will ask for codeword since it is going to be the new device and you should be able to reset it.

Hey all, thanks for the input and suggestions. In brief: No, not a wrong email address. Yes I am close enough to Ottawa to make a trip in to one of the Apple stores. Paul's answer makes the most sense because although at some point i did set it up the account, I never used it, as this was never an Internet computer before. MacKeeper geeks have been helping a little.

But the main problem persists, I cannot contact support online cause I can't login!!! I may try pgirish007's solution over the next day or so when I am at another computer, that could work.

ETA: Girish was right, once I used another computer to log in and make changes to password and security settings, everything was fine once I began using the Mac. Thanks so much!
