Back in November 2015, the Chinese camera drone company DJI announced that it had acquired a minority stake in the legendary Swedish camera brand Hasselblad. The following July, the two companies teamed up to launch a monster $4,599 medium format drone. According to a new report, DJI has since acquired Hasselblad by becoming the majority owner.

Oh dear lord. Bad enough that a megalomaniacal billionaire is about to become the most powerful man in the world...now this.

Best to fall upon your swords while you can! Those of you lacking swords, just run.

Unlike the outgoing POTUS, DJI is successful! ;-)

Hasselblad have always sold out so this is no surprise. Maybe this may improve their customer service.

I've been a DJI product owner for a while now and—although their products are the most advanced in the world—their customer service does receive a lot of negative reviews from customers that have used their service. Having said this, there are a lot of folks that do praise their customer service. Personally, I haven't had to deal with them.

It's not official yet, wondering what the wait to announce is all about. Hasselblad seemed to have been looking for ways into entering other markets. The partnership with DJI, and that camera add-on for Motorola. For studio work it's a great camera. Had a chance to work with the H5D and compare. PhaseOne's are great but after working with those, weight wise comparing later, the Hassel feels like a Canon DSLR. I hope DJI does good.

Yeah :-( We owned a pair of 'blads back in the day, and service was a joke even then. This was like late 70's, I think. Very irritating. That's why we had "a couple"; we had one, and when it went belly-up we had to buy another body while they futzed around with the first one. All the lenses and backs, of course, were interchangeable.

Perhaps there's a reason they named the company hassel ... :-)

Yes Blad

I have owned a couple of Blads a Cx503 with a 16MP back that had issues with retaining the date.. My friend who is an electronic genius found the problem was the battery type and changed mine for a Mercury based battery and we were kind enough to inform Hasselblad about the issue and also the solution, we didn't even get a reply, however the next generation of backs (HD3) all come with Marcs design... coincidence? maybe. When I asked them about it, they were rude enough to snigger and say "I doubt it, we have the very best technicians working here, I don't think your friend solved anything".

I had a HDIII for a while and I sent it for a sensor clean but they somehow managed to find a ton of other faults with it and wanted to charge me £1400 or they couldn't clean the sensor (they replace the sensor glass when doing a clean and mine had marks on it because the glass is so soft. we settled for a repair of £800 and I sold it straight away never to buy from them again.

I went with Leica and the service from Leica Mayfair UK is Wonderful. Smiles, free coffee, and best of all the honour any repair regarding malfunction of their machine for FREE!!! this included (for me) 4 Sensor replacements, 2 for my Monochrome 1 for my M240 and one for my M9 even though I was not the original owner, every time I visit them I get a FREE sensor clean. When I picked up my SL in London from a friend (it was an import) they GAVE me a 16GB SD card for FREE just for popping in to buy an extra battery.

Anyway... you get the picture.
