Just out of curiosity I would like to know what dimensions you use on the average width and length to get the best viewing resolution with the least amount of degradation. I know the 700kb size is very limiting, and wish a larger sized image were allowed like maybe 2MB or something like that.

Bottom line, unless you have an image with an insane amount of fine detail across the entire image, the 700kb file size limit is pretty liberal. In all cases, I would use the maximum pixel dimensions allowed (longest side 1200 px). |

It has always been my opinion (unsubstantiated by research) that detail will be best preserved when resizing where the calculation involves only "whole pixels" -- 25%, 50%, etc. With my camera, a 40% reduction (i.e. 5x5 pixels resampled to 2x2) gives me overall dimensions of 1126 x 845 pixels, close enough to the maximum allowed entry size, and it will usually fit under the 700kb limit at near-best JPEG quality. |

One other thing which will eat up kilobytes when saving as JPEG is noise -- JPEG sees that at "detail" at the pixel level. I've had an image get as much as 200kb smaller after running through noise-reduction software. |

I agree with the below.
Work the pixels. *grin*

Thanks a lot, I think my question was answered.
