Just an idea. What about a side challenge of Christmas trees? Start at Dec 10 (I'll open a thread), closure date Dec 24 (midnight server time). Make some nice new ones and/or dig in your (probably) very full archive. Only restriction: you give a least 2 comments to other photos for every photo you post.

Anyone in?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Does it have to be my Christmas tree? For the first time ever we are going to be away for Christmas and I don't think I'm doing any decorating this year..

Marion, you can take a picture from a previous year.

That's what I'll do too because here in Germany the Christmas tree is decorated for Christmas Eve and not (several weeks) before the actual holiday. Our family tree won't be ready until Dec 24th, so I couldn't submit a picture from this year. But then it will stand in our home until Jan 6th, which is the day of the arrival of the 3 holy kings. Most families in Bavaria do it that way. Sometimes when there are small children the tree is decorated while some family member is taking the kids for a walk or to church service. When they return then suddenly and miraculously the Cristmas tree is standing there along with all the presents...

All this is a miracle made by the Christkind (infant Jesus) and not Santa Claus. Santa Claus is a holy man who rewards good children on Dec 6th - TODAY! But he only brings very small presents, mostly some sweets.

Sorry... this has nothing to do with photography but maybe somebody is interested in the differences of tradition

I love learning about the different traditions around the world. Thank you for sharing a Bavarian Christmas with us Barbara!

I was thinking the same thing. There are a couple of nice public trees I was thinking about. I would be open to any Christmas tree, but it should be hajeka's call. He proposed this side challenge.

As for me, any Christmas tree will do! In full glory or just details...

Btw. I'm in the process of getting a terrible cold, so I think I will not be very responsive the next few days

I think I can do this; sounds like a great side challenge for the holiday.

I hope you shake that cold quickly Henk-Jan. Best wishes.

Thank you. Feeling somewhat better now. I'll start the posting thread soon. It will be Dec 10 in Kiribati within an hour ;)
