The current six (non-FS - which of course suit everyone) challenges are:

Body of Water III
Medication
People at Work
Tilt Shift III
Where Sea Meets Shore
Emotive Landscape

Let's assume that I'm a landscape person.

THREE of the six current challenges are all about Landscapes!

And two of the others are conducive to landscapes... which is fine.

But, let's assume that I'm a set-up shot person... or a macro person... or a lighting person... and I'm wheelchair bound and can't drive.

Only ONE of the six is a challenge that works.

I've been noticing a trend.

Perhaps it's because... I am NOT a landscape photographer.

AND... two of the last three challenges were:

Urban Landscapes and National Parks.

That's FIVE out of the last EIGHT challenges that are ALL and ONLY about landscapes, right?

Perhaps we could have some challenges that a landscape photo would NOT fit into?

Maybe... uhh... Insects. Or... Household Objects... Or... Macro... or... NOT a Landscape.

I dunno.

Something not to do with landscapes. *grin*

I'd even vote for Water Drops or... Wine Glasses at this point.

ha!

What do you think?

Please suggest some topics.

(Not conducive to landscapes, please.)

Ha!

I never used to be a landscape Photographer, but then I tried, nothing wrong with being all rounded :-)

Also I would like to ask you Lydia why aren't you interested in landscape photography. Is it because you live in a dull boring place or you just don't like going outside? Apparently people who enjoy nature and getting outside and going on a hike, experience less depression than other people....just saying, not that I'm depressed. In fact if I stayed indoors all day long that is enough to depress me!

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I'm just trying to understand, thank you in advance :-)

I'm quite "rounded". (Have you seen a recent photo of me?)

Of the five challenges that I bolded (landscape photos only), I've entered three so far. I was unable to enter one (out of the country) and I plan to enter the other one.

I'm not unwilling...

It's just that...

I'd like to see more varied challenge topics to suit all areas of photography and all photographers.

I think it would draw more people (or keep more people) to/on the site.

Fare enough, in a few minutes we can wait for the next challenge, maybe it will be right up your alley :-)

It's right up some folks' "alley"... but they have to include hats.

I actually agree

Actually, I thought household objects WAS a landscape challenge! ;P

I do agree though -- simply because not only do I suck at landscapes, I don't even think Bear could make interesting landscapes in this town. I love it in the fog. But it's pretty dull otherwise. If I drove for a little over an hour we have ocean, or for 3.5 we have mountains, but the immediate surrounds are rather lackluster.

Hmmm... I wonder if I could make medication into a landscape entry...

Lydia, thank you, household items, liquid drops, soap bubbles, ice, ceilings, out the window, bottles, jars, macro or whatever.

Wendy the photo of your husband in the ocean with the lamp is awesome and quite humerous! He He

i have to agree... but i thought MAYBE it was b/c we are winding down the main "outdoor" season, at least in the northern hemisphere... i will say it has been challenging to come up with landscape ideas in my dull, boring location.
