In honor of our National Parks turning 100 today. Show us your best shot from one of our many National Parks, Seashores, and Wildlife Refuges. Dig though your files, you can use any photo that you have taken in any one of our National Treasures. Your source photograph may be old or new, as long as it was shot with a digital camera and not already entered in a challenge.

Bogd khan Uul, just south of Ulanbator, Mongolia, is the oldest national park in the world. It predates Yellowstone USA by over 100 years.

While it is potentially a great topic I would need 3 months to get a decent photo, not a chance to get to one of the great National Parks in the next 3 days! Or make it a hidden gem challenge. That could produce some natural beauty. Or human-made beauty as the Cinque Terra National Park in Italy is all about villages!

You have 3 days to dig through your files...or go get a new shot in 3 days...either way you should have SOMETHING in your files??

Sorry, much too early here :)

Awesome idea Janine I can come up with something here... and I'm sure most others can also.

Not familiar with the challenge, but if one can ferret out images from their files, I am confident that you could find something. I seem to recall that you had some impressive photos from the Banff area and some other gems.

Ray, two posts before the one you quoted and responded to, Margaret had said it was a great topic but 3 days wasn't enough time to plan a Nat Park trip. Then she realized she hadn't seen the archival component, and posted it was "too early", presumably in the day, for her :-) Had your coffee yet, Margaret? Misplace your old-geezer specs, Ray? Soldier on, everyone!

Ray, Bear is spot on. I should have quoted Janine and mentioned lack of coffee as an excuse for not paying attention.
I haven't been to Banff but many times to Whistler. I do like this challenge idea.

Waaaaa whoooo...it worked!!! Been looking up lists...there are sooooo many "National" Park, Monuments, Forests, Landmarks.....it's totally amazing and I'm only looking here (USA). You add world wide and the lists go on n on!!! I really expect this to be a spectalur challenge!!! I know I've seen so many beautiful entries from around the world that just make me want to visit them and see their splendor!!! Start your digging!!!

I like this speedy one and happy it's not only about US national parks. Lots of digging to do , although I dislike that little remark "and not previously entered in a DPC challenge":)

One of my favorites. It looks so small, but those were the rules a long time ago.

I agree Hajeka! And I wish I could enter more than one because it's going to be hard to pick just one! My favourite Parks shot got entered into the Best of 2015 and I don't regret it but I'm entering this challenge more to showcase my favourite national parks (in Canada!) than to try to win votes.
FYI - Banff National Park turns 100 in 2017 so Parks Canada is giving free admission to all Canadian national parks (and historical sites?) for the entire year.

Well, I've dug, trolled, polished n tweaked several pictures...I'm blessed to have been able to visit such beautiful places!!! I'm really going to enjoy this challenge...and I'm going to give it my best to comment on as many as possible, anyone else going to try? I'm hoping y'all will have good notes. I'm sure I'll be adding many more locations to my bucket list. It was hard to pick just one!!!

I don't have a snowball's chance in Hell of finishing anywhere near the top in this one, but I did find an entry... from 2005, LOL.

I stupidly didn't noticed the flag and raced out to take a shot (I actually live in a National Park). The lighting was not great and composition is poor as I only had 10 mins to shoot. I have many better shots from various parks around the world but now no time to find and enter them. I wonder if mine might be the only entry that was taken within the challenge anouncement dates. At the time I did think it was a bit strange and unfair to have a speed challenge that required most people to travel great distances to shoot.

Oh silly boy ;)

Some really excellent photos in this challenge should be very high scoring.

Let's see if everyone who enters votes, maybe we can have 100 or more votes, .... Or am I dreaming probably :-)

Sadly you probably are Anita. Should have been one of the conditions for entering this one.

Yes I know, it would've been hard to implement anyway :-)
