I think two weeks is a great idea. I would also love to see a DPL in the works.

I can see that the last challenge has a 7 days submission period. Have changed your mind? IMO 14 days submission was the best idea for having more people joining the challenges, so I am sad about that.

Probably an error. I've raised it.

Thanks Paul! I have seen that participation has improved lately, so it would a shame to go back to the to old formula :)

I'm of that view myself - and have been able to enter more myself. It's a good thing I think.

i'll throw in my "like" for the new 2-week submission period.... it actually gives MORE ops to shoot due to the overlapping windows for multiple challenges.

I'm actually finding it rather difficult. There are 9 challenges open right now. I was recently travelling, and it was very difficult to remember what the options were. (That being said, at least around here I have data on my phone, so I can check.)

But it does seem a little overwhelming...

Hold it... that's why it seems like there's so many. There are! How is there one due right after another? People at work and tilt shift due one day after that. I was assuming we were doing the tues, thurs, sun, bit. Going to check to see when these are actually due. If those days are changing, shouldn't there be a flag?

looks like the people at work is an extra challenge?

I guess with this many on the home page, it would be nice to see the deadline dates without having to click on each one. The 11 days 1 hour, 12 days 1 hour, and 13 days one hour got a little confusing as to which challenge was which. Most likely just because of the extra challenge thrown in. But to sleepy jetlagged minds, it was a "huh??" moment. :)

Wendy, did you wake up?
It is a great new system :)

I'll second the request for due-by date visibility on the front page. Including the 3-lettered abbreviation for day of week would a kindness for those of us who do not routinely memorize the calendar. Although numeric dates would be shorter, it might be better to include the 3-lettered abbreviation for the month to sidestep the confusing ambiguity of month-first vs. day-first depending on where in the world you are. Looks like there would usually be enough space to add this information in the first line of each challenge. For example:

"Body of Water III_____Standard Editing_____Through Sun. Sep. 11, 2016"

If not consistently enough room, maybe just add an extra line, or omit the year.
Feasible?

Yes, there are way too many. I just printed out a piece of paper to keep it all straight. That is not maintainable.

If we are going to keep this 2 week submission time, then there should not be 3 challenges per week plus two free studies plus extras. At MOST there should be 6 challenges to enter at once. Even that is pushing it with the current site design. Everything really just runs together and it's hard to get your bearings.

I will never understand why there are always people who are unhappy about change, whatever it might be.

At the risk of being labeled as "unhappy" ... I agree that the page is very busy and cluttered. I don't even try to memorize what is active for challenge submission now (used to be able to keep it straight). I use my smart phone to pull up DPC when I'm somewhere semi-photogenic and see if anything (potential subject matter) matches a challenge subject.

I guess if you want to focus on one or two subjects, the extra submission time could come in handy. For me it does give me more last minute options when I'm out and about.

Did I say I was unhappy about the change to 2 weeks? Nope. You have incorrectly inferred that.
I have offered constructive criticism, with ideas for improvement, in both of my posts to this thread.

FWIW, the way I feel about this does not fit in a binary happy/unhappy system.

FYI: If you click on the "Challenges" item in the main menu it will display a summary page of all of the challenges open for submission, currently in voting, and recently completed, including the complete challenge descriptions and entry dates. I've never been able to keep track of all the pending challenges (even before there were twice as many), so I often print that page and put it in the camera bag.

Although a lot of challenges, I can work it out as long as there is the normal intervals with the challenges starting on Sun, Tue en Thu. But the People at Work challenge starts on a Wednesday. That makes it rather confusing. I can understand the Extended FS starts on a Wednesday, but PaW is just a normal challenge.

Let's hope it's just a one-time mistake in the planning.

PaW = Ricky Riccardo's challenge?

"Where sea meets the shore" is where I finally got confused, are challenges now starting one day earlier?

I've raised that question - I suspect it's some scheduling automation teething troubles secondary to putting in some interim speed challenges to fill the gaps that would have occurred on the Front Page between the 7 day and 14 day systems...
