Ok, so here we go. Sign-up is over.

Post them as you finish them and make sure I catch them all as I update this post.

Be sure to include editing steps. You have until the 23rd, then I'll ask for individual results from the owners of the originals. First places get 5 points, second gets 3 and third gets 1.

Questions are welcome, it's been a long time since I've run this...

Salmiakki's picture

This one was hard.
All editing in Photoshop CC 2015 (64bit)
First thing was to separate sky and every layer of mountain. I used the regional selection tool (manually) for the cutout and each one in a new layer
8 layers in total./
Each layer I passed in Nik Vivenza structure/
For the sky I adjusted the exposure and add a yellow filter and an orange filter./
For the mountains I used an emerald green filter (10%)/
Vibrance mask on all layers except sky/
flatten image and adjust levels of brightness

and my second one...

Copied to new layer and applied sketch filter (overlay in 21%)
Cropped small part from the sky on top/
Put border in Alien Skin Exposure 5
flatten

My first three

Mefnj's image

Crop to 16:9 aspect ratio, Color Efex glamor glow and graduated blue filter (reduced opacity on the layer)
Nik Silver Efex, letterbox border created

Spiritualspatula

Lots of local adjustments in Viveza.
Nik Silver efex layer (I used a preset I created for the Ansel Adams challenge based on High Structure preset)
Applied the B&W layer in 50% luminosity mode
Selected the sky and applied topaz Denoise to remove the excess noise created by the B&W layer
some contrast and levels adjustments on the sky.
Flattened then cropped the image

grahamgator's image

Pretty much the same steps as for SpiritualSpatula's image except I kept the whole image B&W rather than using a luminosity layer
Oh and I cloned out the red advertising hoarding and cropped the image

Just a suggestion that if you're going to "vote" on these, that you make a "final" thread at the end where the original and everyone's edits are all posted together in a single post ... otherwise it seems like it would be hard to fairly compare the edits if you have to go searching through this thread for everyone's version ...

Looks like cynthiann has done that at the bottom of this thread.
:)

Looks like cynthiann has done that at the bottom of this thread.
:)

I'd have put them in separate posts later, but yeah, that looks like it'll work too ... :-)

This thread is like peanuts - can't just nibble.
And I'm gonna get thru all these, and then have nothing to DO!

okay, with that out the way, one more today:

editing (I had another treatment in mind but when I opened it, this fell into place)

Match colors - using an image of mine with mostly blues and reds
viveza 2
apply gradient (in separate layer) of dark red & darker red)
apply blending mode "subtract"
CROP image
judicious erasing around the edges
one more: Viveza 2
define 2

Okay, Neil, I've tortured your image enough.

Well, I finished (and only cheated a little bit with a 2-in-1 merge ... ;)
That was fun =D (see my previous post for all the images; comments are in details of each image) - Most of them are not the full size - mainly because I only have a tiny bit of space in my portfolio storage.
