I thought this would be a fun discussion. What would you do if you had $1000 to spend on Photography? Would it be equipment, An educational photo course, A photo trip? Give me some ideas!

For me, the money would go towards a ticket to Germany so that I could take photos of people involved in "Fasching" in places like Cologne or other similar venues.

Either that or wait till 2017 and visit the Landshut Hochseit once again... what a treat that was.

$1000 is not near enough to buy the lenses I want to have, so probably I would spend it on materials for mounting (mounting board and frames). And a mounting course ;-)

I'd put it towards my next design for the large large format digital conversion system.

Ah! A new lens is what I really want, but its in the $2500 range. Can't decide if I want to continue to save for it or find something else to have fun with.

If I were you, I would put it towards my almost unused Olympus OMD EM-5 MKII and lens.

How's that for a self promoting plug? ;)

I just bought Robert's Olympus 40-150 f/2.8, so I suppose that's my answer.

The next $1000 goes towards travel. I have plenty of equipment.

Right now? How about the Western shore of the St Lawrence from Tadoussac to Blanc-Sablon? Or how about Nova Scotia? You can take the Big Cat from Boston to Halifax then drive back overland. This is assuming you're on the East coast somewhere... If you're out West, go hit the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state, perhaps?

Anywhere you want to go...get a map out and draw a circle of x miles from home and see what's in the circle...there has to be something you haven't done or explored!!!

Get roaring drunk, bet on the ponies, and pretty much waste the rest.

You have to take photos of all that, otherwise DNMC.

I was off playing golf! What a beautiful day. Finally worked out a problem in my backswing! I like your idea Robert. Photography is an expensive hobby. $1000 doesn't buy much:( and yet a wonderful trip like the one you suggest is a priceless experience only made better by having camera in hand. We are headed down to Savannah, Ga in October. Looking forward to some great photo ops. Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely keep that on my bucket list.
