Last year this week, we lost TV and film legend James Garner. One of his most iconic roles was that of private investigator Jim Rockford on "The Rockford Files" TV show. It aired for six seasons on NBC and had several post-series TV movies.

One highlight of the show was its title credits which opened with a different message left on his answering machine each week, followed by the classic theme song composed by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter. This tune was so popular it actually charted on the Billboard Hot 100 (#10) and won a Grammy in 1975 as well.

The title credits were primarily then made up of a slide show of Garner as Rockford in various still shots doing his job as a private investigator as well as interacting with his friends and father.

A grainy video of the credits can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO0Vq4fj3ho

In addition, those with Netflix can watch the beginning of an episode to see it more clearly. It may be available on other streaming services as well.

So the bottom line suggestion is to either

a. pay homage to a shot from the title credits (there are many, many to choose from)

or if that seems to narrow a topic

b. create a shot of a private investigator in action.

I loved the Rockford Files (can it really be so long ago?). But I prefer option b. as a challenge.

b, i'd love to see some sexy half naked private investigators.
