I don't even know what this challenge would be called, but a feller named Stephen McMennamy has posted some interesting photo combinations on his website. He does other stuff, so I don't know if it's an "In the style of..." really. He calls them Combo Photos, so maybe that would work as a challenge title.

Essentially he's taking two unrelated photos and piecing them together to become one that makes total sense, and are often quite funny. He doesn't bother blending them in post. The two images are similar enough out of camera to blend well enough on their own.

I'd like to see the challenge done as an Advanced challenge with a special rule to allow exactly two photos, like a diptych challenge.

Love it!!!!

Very clever, very cute, very fun. I'd love to vote on such a challenge and see all the fantastic ideas DPCers would come up with.

It would need a special rule to allow combining two parts.

I'd like to see - as part of the rule for THAT challenge - that we can crop (plus resize/rotate) and combine but NOT use Photoshop to seamlessly blend it all together.

I like the idea of having to carefully consider both images (subjects/backgrounds/lighting situations etc) in order to combine them just like Stephen McMennamy did.

Smh. Some people are vehemently opposed to this content. Please mark it as such so they never have to see it. We don't don't anyone to be offended.

Just for rules clarification purposes, the challenge states, "Use two photographs and creatively arrange them side-by-side (horizontally OR vertically) to create an imaginative new scene." I read this to mean that there needs to be a distinct line of delineation between the two photos, with each piece being pure content from that shot. No blending along the border between the two, even if that border is straight.

Do I have that correct?

Would "horizontally OR vertically" also preclude a diagonal or mixed border (i.e. two photos with upper-left/bottom right being from one and upper-right/bottom-left from another)?
