Pastels are commonly defined as "a light, pale tint of color". Your challenge is to look at the world in a softer light this week, and show us what you've found.

Moody Blues ref, not X-Men. :)

We should buy some monitors to DNMC voters

Is this in the entries or the votes received?

For me, votes received. It's a bit lower than I had hoped.

Getting that vibe from everyone.

One of my team members has an entry that should be doing very well and his score is worse than mine (which this time I wasn't sure how it would do, but didn't care).

There is clearly low voting going on, but I suppose if everyone is doing it, then the rankings should still sort out.

I'd like to see the DPL in the future remove votes from all DPL team members when calculating the DPL ranking. So they would count for the site, but not for the DPL.

Mine is sitting exactly where I had pegged it, just shy of 6. Hoping it stays there, but if not, hey-ho. Looking forward to voting later in the week.

My image is so not DNMC... I just don't get it... and the images from the road signs and the scores that other images received and where things ended up disappointed me as well.. I am not sure the disappointment is the word I wanted to use, but for now it fits perfectly.
I don't think there is a number to so much agree with the above statement, I think it would be in the trillions at least or higher if there is such a thing

Was expecting mid 5s for mine at least.. first vote was 5

Kevin, if DPL votes didn't count toward DPL, each entry would get about 6 votes. I suspect almost all the current voters are playing this time.

I'm not sure that's accurate.

Even if the site (LANGDON!!!!) would show that tally in the image results we could see if that were the case. Like they do for the misnamed "participants" tally.

And if it's a decent enough number this go 'round, then it could be fixed for DPL 4

Early warning system alert!!

A faint whiff of ranting is on the horizon...

In other news:

FWIW, scores are low all across the board. The blue ribbon for Graveyards was a 6.5. 6 is the new 7. Adjust your expectations accordingly. Besides, it's not the number, it's the placement.

Indeed! I don't vote in challenges I post in. Such is the case. I won't vote in the DPL challenges either. I understand if everyone behaved this way they'd be no votes in DPL challenges at all. So thank you. There are plenty of other pics to vote on and will still comment. Going in, it's understood that it's the percentile that matters.

A lot of beautiful images in the challenge but I'm surprised how many shots are way too saturated and vibrant to meet the challenge IMO. One of my favorite images has me on the fence in regards to voting. I want to give them a 10 for being such a well executed shot and gorgeous photo but pastel is not what I think of when I look at it. Now I'm doubting what exactly is considered pastel. I was thinking desaturated colors that are soft and comforting. Thoughts on this?

I voted the way, if image is pastel and looks good, high point. I dont care about the process at all. After all, however you do, as long as you get there, you have my vote. Other than that, i will look at it as dnmc and if the image doesn't look good either, get a low vote... If image dnmc but looks good, got 5 or 6, I am not killing those either.

unsure I can answer without influencing how you vote.
vote how you feel. if you think a "saturated, muted color (ie saturated prominent pink, as opposed to a pink color in an image being a desaturated red)" is not pastel, that's your choice. if you think an image deserves a 10, click 10. if you think it's a great image and doesn't exactly meet criteria, vote accordingly. just don't let others tell you how to perceive something.

That's pointless, because DPL rankings are based on placement, not scores. Even IF low DPL voters are driving average scores down, it's across the board and should have little or no effect on placement.

I am voting but not participating in DPL. There were some amazing entries in this challenge, as well as quite a few DNMC.
