I would love a summary of her setup here and figure out what the heck she is doing.

Any ideas?

That's probably where she is creating the colorful waves in water...that's a blower in her hand. The colorful fabric below placed at a distance from the clear glass dish with water to create retractions of color in the water...flash to add light.

Last week, Ursula and I "talked" back and forth for a while about her new passion, which is mixed-media. It's taking a photograph, but also adding different sorts of mediums to it, like painting, or ink. It's fascinating, and of course, further confirmed to me her incredible genius. I truly believe she is one of the best artists in the world, and there is no limit to the places her creative heart will take her. She has always been one of my major idols.

Great article. Thanks for posting! Ursula is in my favorites list. I love her work bracketing exposures using wide open aperture such as the shot below.

It was also great to get a sneak peek into her creative process, not only in her thoughts, but also into her studio.

Also, from the angle of her camera to the surface, it seems clear that she is using the monitor and fabric/paper hanging part way down it to form reflections.
