Per a post today on Canon Rumors, Adobe looks set to release Lr 6 on March 09. The CR post has some features details, and there are several things of note. The one that really trips my trigger is (finally!) GPU support. Another that I can see being very useful is the ability to find all photos containing a particular face in a library purely using facial recognition.
This looks to be a very major update to Lr, will be interesting to play with it...

I don't think so... unlike Ps, Adobe has not made any noise about going subscription-only on Lr. That certainly does not mean it won't happen. I sure hope not.

I'm guessing Graphics Processing Unit

Yes. This is the processor on your computer's video board. Traditionally this is needed by uses such as gaming and video editing. Some software is able to take advantage of the GPU in order to add additional processing capability for processor intensive work. So this is indeed a major under-the-hood upgrade.

Is there specs for this yet on what is needed for the computer?
My computer is over 5yrs old LOL Don't think it will handle anything like that. |

I have not seen hardware specs. Lr has always run best on higher-spec equipment, however the age of the equipment doesn't mean quite as much these days, since clock speeds have not risen in years. Lr 5.7 runs fine on my desktop, which is approaching 6 years old. Lr 6 may not be able to use my ancient GPU, however.
