Seem to be creeping up in frequency. Why? What happened to the other end of the spectrum; Minimal Editing. ???

These Expert challenges are killing my average vote cast stat.

I was expecting some boring posts about it...

You could do more with this one in expert editing. But I actually think it would have been more interesting in advanced.

This year 17 advanced and 6 expert (and 1 minimal) - 3:1.

Not enough?

You can ALWAYS shoot in minimal.

True - but it's tricky to shoot in Expert and get that fine multiple image collage effect.

I don't mind Expert because of the creative freedom it affords, and it makes me learn and practice my pp skillz. Even though you enter knowing that gyaban and Samantha_T, should they enter, will probably steal a ribbon apiece, both have been beaten and sometimes by images that are only Advanced.

I hate soccer. I really hate it. Those guys keep falling on purpose, running after a stupid ball, applauded by clueless viewers: pathetic. Unfortunately, TV keeps broadcasting games, several evenings per week! It was driving me crazy: to be forced to watch that stuff, year after year, was a nightmare. I still hear myself yelling in front of the TV: "please show us some good movie instead!" or "I don't care some like it, they are all imbeciles!" (or even things way more rude that I am too shy to write about).

Then, one blessed day, I found a solution. It was very, very tricky, but it worked beautifully: I found out that my TV set came with a remote control, and... it let me change the channel! So unexpected, so incredible. It was the happiest day of my life. From that day, I always managed to avoid soccer: it is like it doesn't even exist :-)

Now of course, I don't know if this could work for you: the Internet is a very small place (I am not sure whether other websites even exist?). But who knows, you could give it a try: maybe you could find good stuff to look at somewhere else, making your life beautiful again. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing your opinion Kanye.

Christophe is right. Soccer is dreadful. I have no idea how people watch it.

Nice try <expletive withheld> ... sorry, but not going anywhere, and certainly not now since I have even more incentive to stay.

Don't like it soccer either...

Remote control? I seriously don't know how to use mine and we have at least three to control whatever it is it has to control and having three just to watch one electronical device in my house? Don't ask me what it goes too or what it turns on or off. THE SPACEY BUTTONS, wholy moly, what happened just to the volume control and the up and down to change channels?

I remember getting off my butt and having to change it to 4 channels, The easy days!
My family and friends laugh at me and things its a huge comical thing when it goes in my hands, I just toss it

My question will always be, why do people always press the buttons much harder when the battery is dead?

Yah, really!

Don't the whiners ever get tired of just moving on to the next challenge?

I don't think I have yet to enter an Expert challenge.......I feel it's more than I can do.

But I'm glad to see another category for others.

My entry in the Steampunk challenge is doing just fine and I essentially did nothing more than what would be allowed in Advanced. Truth is, I think some of the stacking and compositing that folks feel obligated to do in an Expert challenge often detracts from the image. Just because you're allowed to use a technique doesn't mean you have to - and you should probably avoid it if your skills aren't up to it. I had to chuckle at one of the comments I received because it complements me on my composite technique - something I didn't do on the photo.

I'm quite surprised you didn't give that a +100 or more. Not surprised by the sentiment however. LOL

I don't agree with this statement especially on this site. This is where I come to try to improve my skills, especially in expert editing. I am learning as I go and having so much fun doing it and getting any feedback is great, even if its not so much in the comments area but only in the score. I do agree that in some cases the stacking may not help the image and not everyone's technique is up to it but it never will be if they don't try. So I am hoping that the site continues to offer expert editing challenges. It has been said before but you can enter an image that is advanced if you want.

I admire Christophe for diffusing with intelligent humor what for me is a tense & depressing OP.

-10 I can't imagine a more snarky post, but very cheerful in a backhanded kinda way. Very easy for the guy who excel's in the expert category to tell someone basically "hey, if you don't like it, go somewhere else"
Didn't seem to me the OP deserved that, just looked like an innocent enough observation/question. But, hey, that's the internet for you nowadays, everyone is a keyboard warrior....
