I have been away from this thread for most of the summer.... I got sidetracked by DPL - what a great experience, but so hard to complete two challenges per week! Then work got beyond crazy and I had a ton of other obligations. I have been shooting lots of photos but just not posting them anywhere but facebook. So here are a few from August.
- This was the image I intended to submit for the August Free Study - only works if you actually hit the submit button
- Smoke from the California Wildfires burning about 10 miles from town
- The beautiful Del Norte beaches
- My new best friend Buddy! I got a dog this summer too! We are having a blast.

Week 40 BEFORE
AFTER
Now, I know why a lot of you were telling me things were way to dark LOL!
I ended up re-calibrating my monitor and learning how to do that. I did not realize it took an actual tool that you actually had to hook up to your monitor and could be done within the computer itself. Picked up an X-rite eye display 2 on ebay used really super cheap.
Being color deficient, It was not off by a little, but by a lot.. I knew I should have never played with the colors on my monitor LOL!
Here is a before and after calibration It was fun to learn something new. Worked perfectly I think
Week 41 and 42. A few of the photos I took re-edited on the Scott Kelby Walk. Learned tons of new things about street photography, was tons of fun

Week 43:
As we sat down for a coffee I noticed the waiter bring him his wine while he lit his cigar. For the next few minutes he hardly moved, not sipping, not puffing….just staring. Gradually his eyes would close and he would start to nod off but then he would startle a little and resume the position at which point he would have a sip, a drag and restart the process. I was totally engaged and wanted to know what would happen when his cigar was finished but it was time for us to go. As we got up he put it out and lit another.

week 43
This photo was also shown locally on the news as a share too :-)) Kinda fun
Watching the sunrise
I also noticed a fun little setting on my camera as I was trying to learn it more, it had an auto HDR.. so I wanted to know what it did so I used it. Really cool not having to combine all three photos in the NIK or photomatix anymore.. did it automatically in the camera! I thought that was pretty cool! A new fun setting. Had it set as -2EV
Nothin touched in lightroom except making sure it was straight with rotation :-)

Not an outstanding photograph but just want to share this rainbow/halo that I saw this morning. It disappeared really quickly so I only managed to get a few shots - none, sadly that show it at its best. IF anyone can shed light (excuse the pun) on how they form I'd be really interested.
